Shivam Dube scripted a comeback for the ages after he helped Anshul Kamboj and his skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad get the very precious wicket of Virat Kohli at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings clash had its own spice due to the age-old rivalry between the fans. However, what spiced it up more were the post-dismissal antics of CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube after Virat Kohli was dismissed.

It is also important to note that Kohli’s dismissal was not just a wicket for Dube, but also a redemption for what he did earlier in the match.

How Virat Kohli Was Dismissed Early At Chinnaswamy

As RCB came in to bat first, Kohli and Phil Salt opened the innings for the team, with both batters looking in solid form in the first few overs. However, inside the powerplay, in the fifth over, Anshul Kamboj sent back the RCB star Kohli on a slow and uneven Chinnaswamy pitch.

On the third ball of his over, Kamboj delivered a hard-length ball outside the off stump. Kohli, pre-determined with his shot selection, tried to step down and pull the ball.

However, the ball did not connect well with the bat due to the uneven bounce, and the top edge sent the delivery high up in the air. Shivam Dube, who was stationed at long-on, ran towards the ball and took it comfortably to dismiss Kohli.

Dube, Ruturaj Gaikwad Celebrate Virat Kohli's Wicket

Then, the Virat Kohli-like celebration from Dube and Ruturaj Gaikwad caught everyone’s attention. The otherwise calm and composed duo was seen celebrating wildly after Kohli’s dismissal at Chinnaswamy, RCB’s fortress.

While Dube celebrated in his signature style, Gaikwad appeared overcharged as he ran in with passion, shouting loudly and pumping his fists in the air. Dube, on the other hand, was seen banging the ball hard on the ground after completing the catch, followed by a cold stare towards the pavilion.

Shivam Dube’s Redemption With Kohli Catch

Importantly, it was a moment of redemption for Dube, considering that he had earlier dropped Kohli’s catch in the third over. When Khaleel Ahmed delivered a sharp ball, Kohli hit it high in the air, only to find Dube underneath it.

However, unable to judge the ball properly, Dube dropped a straightforward chance, giving Kohli a lifeline when he was on 9 runs. Nevertheless, Dube made up for that mistake by eventually dismissing Kohli, who scored 28 off 18 balls at a strike rate of 155.56, including two boundaries and one six.

RCB Going Strong Against CSK In Mega Rivalry of IPL

After losing the toss, RCB had a slow start due to the damp outfield and sluggish pitch at Chinnaswamy. Both openers began cautiously, with RCB reaching 33 runs at the end of four overs and eventually 51 by the end of the powerplay.

Phil Salt was going strong with his 24-ball 41, alongside in-form Devdutt Padikkal, who had scored 61 off 26 balls in his previous outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

With RCB batters still at the crease to build on the start provided by Virat Kohli and Salt, it promises to be an interesting contest in Bengaluru as the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led bowlers look to dominate the first half of the match.
