Karachi Kings are dealing with unexpected changes during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026). Recently, team captain David Warner reportedly left the team and returned back to Australia. At the same time, two other players, Muhammad Waseem and Khuzaima Bin Tanveer, also left the squad and returned to the United Arab Emirates.
A few days earlier, an incident during a PSL match caught public attention. David Warner had a tense exchange with all-rounder Moeen Ali. In a video that spread widely on social media, Warner appeared upset and moved quickly towards Moeen Ali.
Soon after, team director Haider Azhar stepped in and calmed the situation. As a result, the moment did not turn into a bigger issue.
David Warner fly back home
Following this incident, reports suggested that Warner planned a short trip back home. Notably, this decision came during a gap between matches, which gave Karachi Kings players time to rest and recover.
However, it is also believed that David Warner will return to Pakistan in time to rejoin the squad and prepare for the upcoming matches.
UAE players recalled for domestic tournament
Meanwhile, Muhammad Waseem and Khuzaima Bin Tanveer returned home for a specific reason. According to sources, the Emirates Cricket Board asked them to come back immediately. They were required to take part in the UAE’s domestic D50 tournament. Therefore, both players had to leave the PSL in the middle of the competition.
In addition, reports confirmed that this was a direct instruction from the board. As a result, the players had no option and joined their national duties.
Karachi Kings share update on UAE players
However, there is some positive news for Karachi Kings. Both Waseem and Khuzaima are expected to return to the team after playing two matches in the D50 tournament. Permission has already been given for them to rejoin the PSL squad once those matches are completed.
Furthermore, Karachi Kings’ head of director, Haider Azhar shared that both players are likely to arrive back in Karachi on Tuesday. After that, they will be available for selection in the next match against Peshawar Zalmi. This match is scheduled to take place at the National Bank Stadium on Thursday.
Looking at performance, Muhammad Waseem has already played three matches in the PSL. He scored zero runs in his first game against Quetta Gladiators. Then, he made 38 runs in his second match and followed it with 23 runs in another game. On the other hand, Khuzaima Bin Tanveer has not yet played a match in the tournament.
Karachi Kings off to a strong start
At the same time, Karachi Kings have been performing very well in the tournament. The team has won all three of their matches so far. This strong start has placed them at No. 1 in the PSL league standings.
In addition, the UAE’s D50 tournament is currently ongoing. The group stage will end on April 8. After that, the final matches are scheduled around April 9 and April 10. Once these matches are completed, the UAE players are expected to return to their PSL team.
