Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old sensation from India, left the cricket fraternity speechless as he dismantled the English attack with his electrifying performance in the U19 World Cup 2026 final match in Harare.
His brutal hitting not only put India in command of the final, but it also sparked off a multitude of reactions on social media.
Among them was a sarcastic post from Iceland Cricket that quickly went viral, jokingly calling for Suryavanshiâs arrest after his destruction of Englandâs bowlers.
Iceland Cricket makes âarrestâ demand for Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Soon after Vaibhav Suryavanshiâs knock, Iceland Cricket posted a tongue-in-cheek tweet that caught everyoneâs attention.
The post read that someone should âarrest Vaibhav Suryavanshi right now,â calling his assault on Englandâs bowlers âX-rated.â
"Someone arrest Vaibhav Sooryavanshi right now. This violence on the field against the English bowlers is X-rated," Iceland Cricket said in a tweet.
The tweet was clearly meant as humour. It praised the sheer brutality of the innings rather than criticising it. Iceland Cricket are popular for its witty social media presence, and once again, they struck gold.
Fans across platforms shared the post widely, enjoying the light-hearted take on a special performance.
England sees the brutal side of Vaibhav Suryavanshi
The reason behind the joke was simple. Suryavanshiâs innings was unreal. Batting in the biggest match of the tournament, he scored 175 runs and showed no mercy to the opposition. He hit 15 fours and 15 sixes, finding gaps quite easily and hitting over the ropes quite effortlessly.
Englandâs bowlers tried pace, spin, short balls, and slower deliveries. Nothing worked. The scoring rate never dipped. Along with captain Ayush Mhatre, Vaibhav added a massive partnership that pushed England completely on the back foot.
However, Vaibhav fell just 25 runs short of a double century, which could have made him immortal in U19 World Cup history. Regardless, the 175-run knock is still the highest individual score registered in U19 World Cup final history.
India on the driverâs seat after Vaibhavâs knock
India U19 delivered a crushing batting performance in the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 final against England at Harare Sports Club. India, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, made the most of the conditions and scored a mammoth 305/4 in just 35 overs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was just unstoppable, as he hit a historic 175 runs off just 80 balls, which were laced with 15 fours and 15 sixes, as his fearless strokeplay took the game away from England.
Captain Ayush Mhatre played the perfect supporting role with a calm 53, stitching together a vital 142-run partnership with Suryavanshi. Vedant Trivedi and Vihaan Malhotra added quick runs towards the end to further boost the total.
Englandâs bowlers found no answers as India maintained a high scoring rate throughout. With 305 on the board and 15 overs of the game still left, India put themselves firmly in command of the final.
