Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a breathtaking inning during the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 final against England. Asked to bat first, India piled up 250/2 in just 25 overs, with Vaibhav leading the charge with a scintillating century.
His century placed him among a rare group of batters to score a monumental knock in a high-pressure game like the U19 World Cup final and added a new chapter to his meteoric rise at the age of just 14.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi enters a rare Indian list with a century
Opening the inning, Vaibhav Suryavanshi trashed England bowlers left, right and center. He slammed a century in just 55 balls to join an elite list of Indians to score a hundred in the U19 World Cup finals.
Vaibhav achieved the feat in stunning fashion. He went on to score 175 from just 80 balls. He struck 13 fours and 13 sixes as well, with a strike rate of 218.
Before him, only Unmukt Chand, Brett Williams, Stephen Peters, Manjot Kalra and Jarrad Burke achieved the feat. However, Suryavanshi’s 175 is the highest individual score ever registered in the history of the U19 World Cup final.

- 101*- Manjot Kalra (IND vs AUS, Mount Maunganui, 2018)
- 100- Jarrad Burke (AUS vs SA, Lincoln, 2002)
Despite the pressure of the final, Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed no nerves. He attacked from the start and never slowed down. England tried pace and spin. Nothing worked.
His innings also gave him a perfect overall record, and it was a knock that will be remembered for years.
Other records toppled by Vaibhav Suryavanshi
The century also helped Vaibhav Suryavanshi shatter a couple of more records. The Indian opener finished the tournament with 30 sixes, the most ever in U19 World Cup history. He went well past Finn Allen and Dewald Brevis, who were tied at 18.
In the final against England, Suryavanshi also registered the second-fastest century in U-19 World Cup history, reaching the landmark in just 55 balls. Only Australia’s Will Malajczuk has done it quicker. It was also the fastest hundred by an Indian in the tournament.
Suryavanshi also became the first player to score 150 in a U-19 World Cup final, doing so in just 71 balls. At only 14, he also emerged as the youngest batter to dominate a World Cup final at this level.
India dominate England early
Meanwhile, India lost Aaron George early in the first inning. The score was 20/1, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi then built a strong partnership with captain Ayush Mhatre.
The pair added 142 runs in quick time. Mhatre played a steady role. He scored 53 from 51 balls. Vaibhav did the damage at the other end.
The powerplay set the tone. India reached 79 runs in the first 10 overs. The scoring rate kept rising. Vaibhav found gaps at will. He cleared the ropes with ease. Even good balls were punished.
England’s bowlers struggled to contain him. Alex Green picked up two wickets but went for runs. Others had no control. By the 25th over, India were already at 250/2.
However, they lost Vaibhav Suryavanshi as the 14-year-old fell just 25 runs short of what could have been an iconic double hundred.
