Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to generate buzz ahead of India’s upcoming T20I series in Ireland. The 15-year-old was selected in India squad for the tour by the BCCI selection committee owing to his strong performance in the recently-concluded IPL 2026 season.
Set to become India’s youngest debutant, Sooryavanshi’s selection in the Indian squad has also sparked a spike in ticket sales.
Graeme West, Head of Cricket at Cricket Ireland’s High Performance Centre, recently praised as well as warned the youngster as he prepares to become India's youngest debutant.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s selection amplified ticket selection, says West
Graeme West further stated that while Ireland’s upcoming home series against India was “already significant” as evidenced by the ticket sales, the inclusion of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the visiting squad has increased the ticket demand even further.
West said “The interest generated by India’s visit was already significant before his selection. Ticket sales reflected that. However, if any tickets remain available, his inclusion will certainly create even more demand.”
Sooryavanshi set for Ireland, England tour after IPL 2026 riches
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi recently won the coveted ‘Orange Cap’ of the IPL 2026 season, becoming the youngest cricketer to win the honour at the age of just 15.
The Rajasthan Royals opener aggregated 776 runs in just 16 innings of the tournament at a prolific average of 48.50 and with a staggering strike rate of 237.30.
The attacking left-handed batter launched 72 maximums in the season, thus going past Chris Gayle’s 59 hits to register the highest number of sixes in a single edition of the competition.
In the match against the SRH in New Chandigarh, the youngster blasted 97 runs from just 29 balls to miss Gayle’s fastest IPL century record by a whisker.
Earlier this year, he also stormed the India U19 team to a comprehensive 2026 ICC U19 World Cup win in Zimbabwe, cracking 175 off just 80 balls in a one-sided final against England.
Sooryavanshi is now selected in Indian squads for the upcoming T20I series in Ireland and England. If the 15-year-old gets picked in the Indian playing XI at any stage of the two tours, he will surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s 37-year-old record to become the youngest international debutant for Team India.
