Senior Bangladesh fast bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, as well as rising star Nahid Rana have been recalled to the national T20I set up for the upcoming home T20I series against Australia. The star pace trio missed Bangladesh’s T20I series against New Zealand in late-April and early May.

Tanzim Hasan Shakib, Ripon Mondol and Mohammad Saifuddin have all been left out of Bangladesh’s T20I squad after featuring in the series against New Zealand.

Towhid Hridoy has been named as new vice-captain of the Bangladesh T20I side after Saif Hassan stepped down from the role, as confirmed by Chief selector and former cricketer Habibul Bashar. Litton Das will continue to lead the national 20-overs team. Here is a look at the entire Bangladesh squad for the T20I series against Australia.

Towhid Hridoy named in Bangladesh’s 15-player squad for ZIM Test

Nahid Rana, despite his latest heroics against New Zealand, Pakistan and Australia; was rested from the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Zimbabwe.

Towhid Hridoy, a veteran of over 100 white-ball internationals, has been named in Bangladesh’s 15-player Test squad for the match against Zimbabwe later this month. Additionally, star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has opted out of the match to take a break.

While speaking with the reporters, Habibul Bashar said “Keeping workload management in mind, we have not included Nahid Rana for the Test series. Towhid Hridoy plays white-ball cricket regularly. But the type of cricket we want to play in Test matches too, I think he can be a very good option.”

Bangladesh squad for Zimbabwe Test: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanzid Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Kumar Das, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Towhid Hridoy, Amite Hasan and Robiul Haque.

Bangladesh is scheduled to tour Zimbabwe later this month to play a Test, three ODIs and three T20I matches. The one-off Test will be played between June 28 and July 2 in Harare.

Bangladesh crush Australia to win historic ODI series

Bangladesh steamrolled Australia by five wickets in the second ODI in Mirpur to seal their three-match home series with a game to spare. Chasing 192 after three-wicket hauls from Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, swift 40s from Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto guided Bangladesh to their first-ever ODI series win over Australia.

The T20I series between the two sides will be played between June 17 and June 21 at the Bir Shrestho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chittagong.
