West Indies Women have been handed an injury concern just days before the start of their ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. Chinelle Henry suffered an injury during a warm-up match against Australia in Cardiff.

The experienced all-rounder was forced to leave the field on a stretcher after an unfortunate incident during the match at Sophia Gardens on Wednesday.

It is important to mention that the full extent of the Chinelle Henry’s injury has not yet been confirmed. But Cricket West Indies has issued an update stating that Henry is currently being assessed by medical staff.

How Was Chinelle Henry Injured?

Chinelle Henry was injured during the second innings of West Indies' final warm-up fixture against Australia. Henry was stationed at long-on when Australia batter Georgia Voll played a lofted shot off the bowling of Afy Fletcher.

As Henry rushed forward to attempt the catch, she lost her footing while trying to position herself under the ball. The slip resulted in an awkward fall, causing immediate concern among teammates and support staff.

Play was halted briefly as medical personnel attended to the 30-year-old on the field. After receiving treatment, she was unable to walk off on her own and had to be taken away on a stretcher.

Following the incident, Cricket West Indies released a statement providing an initial update on her condition.

“Chinelle Henry experienced an exacerbation of a previous injury and is currently being managed by the team's medical staff. Further updates will be provided as appropriate,” Cricket West Indies shared in a statement.

West Indies have been placed in Group B alongside England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Scotland and Ireland. Their campaign begins against New Zealand before a series of important group-stage fixtures across England.
