Sourav Ganguly had no choice but to complain to the police regarding several death threats he had received via letters. PTI confirmed the development, saying some of the letters also involved his wife, Dona Ganguly.
Currently the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Ganguly went to Thakurpukur Police Station in south Kolkata to lodge a written complaint after Monday’s latest complaint regarding the same subject.
Police Step Up Investigation Into Sourav Ganguly Death Threat Case
The police, as PTI reported, have already begun investigating the matter and are on the hunt to find out who communicated with Sourav Ganguly in such a way.
“We are taking the complaint seriously and have begun an investigation. We are examining the letters, their source and the courier trail to identify the person responsible,” the officer said.
“We have spoken to the people from the courier service and tracked down one mobile number. We are trying to spot it,” he added.
The report further mentioned that Ganguly has received death threat letters for over six months now. Although he did not take the matter seriously earlier, two letters that came on Monday, involving his wife, Dona, and the police personnel who would be close to him whenever such incidents happen, prompted him to stop staying silent.

Furthermore, police revealed the report from the initial-stage investigation, saying most of the courier service was allegedly carried out by a person from Belgharia in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal.
Where Will Be Sourav Ganguly Next?
Sourav Ganguly will soon be seen on TV and JioHotstar, hosting Big Boss Bangla. The show, which will be the third edition after a 10-year break, will get underway on August 30, with Ganguly hosting, similar to Salman Khan in Bigg Boss Hindi.
This will be Sourav Ganguly’s first year as the Big Boss Bangla host, with two popular actors, Mithun Chakraborty and Jeet, having held the role in the past.
Ganguly Over The Years After Retirement
After taking up international retirement in November, 2008, Sourav Ganguly, one of India’s greatest-ever captains, retired from all forms of cricket in 2012. He switched to cricket expert, commentator, TV host, administrative, and coaching roles thereafter, keeping his love for cricket alive.
To begin with, Ganguly worked as an on-air commentator. After that, he hosted a popular TV show called Dadagiri Unlimited. In between, he became CAB President before taking on the ultimate responsibility: BCCI President.
Later on, Ganguly returned to CAB to become President again. He has been associated with Delhi Capitals as well for coaching duties, including taking up leadership positions for their sister franchises too.
In addition to being a CAB President, Ganguly currently works as the head coach of Delhi Capitals, and his first assignment in this new role will be in IPL 2027.
