Sachin Tendulkar Reacts To Sourav Ganguly Getting ICC Hall Of Fame Honour

On Wednesday, July 8, Sourav Ganguly celebrated his 54th birthday. On his special day, the ICC presented the former India captain with a special gift. The Jay Shah-led council officially inducted Sourav Ganguly into the ICC Hall of Fame.

Notably, Ganguly became the 12th Indian to be honoured with the prestigious award. Overall, Ganguly is the 10th male cricketer to be inducted into ICC’s Hall of Fame.

Sourav Ganguly Reacts To His Prestigious Honour

Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter to thank Jay Shah, who previously worked under Ganguly’s tenure with BCCI as secretary.

“Thank you, ICC and Chairman Jay Shah @JayShah for inducting me in the Hall of Fame.. It’s a huge honour . One of the 10 Indians to be inducted in the Hall of Fame ever .. Amazing to be a part of some great names,” tweeted Sourav Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah share a great camaraderie and also spent a lot of time together during their administrative years with the BCCI.

Following Ganguly’s honour, social media went into a frenzy and poured in wishes in bulk. Not just the fans, but the entire cricket fraternity extended their wishes to the former India captain.

Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar too share a brilliant bond. The two have known each other since their Under-19 days, forming a great friendship.

Tendulkar congratulated Ganguly and also spoke about their special bond.

The former India captain finished his illustrious career with Sourav Ganguly scored a total of 18,575 runs across international formats (Tests, ODIs, and T20Is). His career breakdown includes 11,363 runs in ODIs and 7,212 runs in Test matches.

Sourav Ganguly captained India in 49 Tests, winning 21, losing 13, and drawing 15 matches. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he led the team in 146 matches, securing 76 wins and suffering 65 defeats in his legendary career.
