The three-day warm-up match between Sri Lanka XI and India was interrupted by continuous rain at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo. At that point, KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal were in the middle, batting on 23* and 44* respectively, as India reached 67/1 after Sri Lanka’s 363/8 declared in the first innings.

The BCCI confirmed the development on social media about the Colombo rain during the IND vs SL-XI match, posting the visuals on X (formerly known as Twitter). A few minutes later, the BCCI also informed that an early lunch was taken for the IND vs SL-XI match.

Colombo Rain Frustrates IND vs SL-XI

Given that the warm-up match is only three days long, India would have loved to play as much as possible before heading to the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka. However, Colombo rain did not allow them to do it in a proper way.

Earlier in the game, Nishan Madushka and Ravindu Rasantha frustrated India's bowlers, which included Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, among others.

The Sri Lanka openers posted 110 runs on the board without any damage until an unfortunate run-out broke the partnership.

Coming at Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Pavan Rathnayake, Ahan Wickramasinghe and captain Sonal Dinusha scored at least 30 or more runs to keep on the momentum going.

Even though Jadeja, Kuldeep and Manav Suthar took two wickets apiece, the damage was already done before them, leaving the bowlers upset before the hosts decided to declare the innings.
