In a recent development, Scotland have named a whole-basis covered squad for an important series, following their T20 World Cup 2026 assignment in India in February.
With Scotland all set to face off with Oman and Namibia, the national selectors have decided to drop two big names from the T20 World Cup squad. Tom Bruce and Michael Alexander Jones are the two cricketers who have been left out of the multiformat series.
Three key players added in Scotland's squad
Interestingly, the European nation is set to take on Oman and Namibia for two ODIs each of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 2024/27 (CWCL2) from April 2-12 at the Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek, Namibia. Later, the Scots will be featuring in a three-game T20I series against the hosts at the same venue.
For the mentioned multiformat series, the Scottish selectors have decided to bring in Owen Gould, who led them in the U19 World Cup 2024, and the upcoming Essex bowler, Mackenzie Jones.
Moreover, Richie Berrington has been retained as the captain for the two series.

The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has received his maiden call-up after playing just a single List-A game; he is yet to make his First Class and T20 debuts. Meanwhile, the 6ft 5in tall Essex seamer has already made his ODI as well as T20I debuts for Scotland.
Allrounder Chris McBride, who has 22 international caps, is also recalled in the Scotland squad. The 19-year-old Zainullah Ihsan will only be travelling for the three-match T20Is, while Mackenzie Jones has been included for the four CWCL2 ODIs.

Notably, 13 members from the T20 World Cup 2026 squad have retained their places.
Scotland's sudden entry in T20 World Cup 2026
The European nation, after failing to qualify for the ICC event through qualifiers, got a late pass for the T20 World Cup 2026, as they replaced Bangladesh in Group C after the Asian side pulled out of the tournament due to safety concerns.
In the group stages, Scotland gave solid time to the West Indies and England, and won against the tournament debutants, Italy. Although they swallowed a hard pill when Nepal defeated the Scots by seven wickets in Mumbai.
It is worth noting that the Associate nation posed real threats to the West Indies and England, with experienced players like Richie Berrington, George Munsey, Michael Leask, Brandon McMullen, and Brad Currie bringing their A-game.
Nevertheless, the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2026 are around the corner. South Africa and New Zealand will fight it out in Semifinal 1 in Kolkata on Wednesday, while India and England will be at loggerheads in Semifinal 2 in Mumbai on Thursday.
