Salman Mirza for Pakistan [Source: X]
Salman Mirza has had a woeful day after he was wrongfully indicated in a misbehaviour incident that allegedly took place with a woman in a Sri Lankan hotel during the T20 World Cup 2026. The Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday cleared the air, stating that no such incident took place and all of the reports are purely baseless and fake.
Now, adding to the matter, cricketer Salman Mirza himself has posted a ferocious Instagram story in which he strongly condemns the reports while saying that he will take massive action against the media house and journalist Shahid Hashmi, who, in the first place, reported the news.
Why Did Salman Mirza Lash Out At Pakistan Journalist?
For the unaware, earlier in the day, a Pakistani local channel, ARY News, aired a report claiming that a left-arm pacer had been fined for harassing a woman in a Sri Lankan hotel.
Another report in Telecom Asia Sport also stated that a Pakistan player misbehaved with a woman in Kandy during the T20 World Cup. However, those publications did not name any individual.
The report stated that the incident took place before the team’s final Super Eight match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. As per the incident, the female hotel staff member raised an alarm, alerting hotel employees to intervene and take control of the situation after the alleged harassment, and the matter was then escalated to the team manager Naveed Cheema.

PCB Points Out Baseless Report
However, later in the day, the PCB was prompt enough to nullify the claim. They were strict in their response, saying that they are exploring legal action against the sources that spread the fake news.
"The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken serious notice of baseless and fake tickers aired by ARY News regarding a Pakistani left-arm fast bowler. The PCB strongly condemns the broadcast of such unverified and misleading information and views this act as malicious and irresponsible," the PCB stated in an official release.
For the unaware, the Green squad consists of only two left-arm fast bowlers, Salman Mirza and Shaheen Afridi, until Mirza addressed the matter through his official Instagram story.
Fans were confused about the premise of the circulating news, as it did not pinpoint any player. However, Mirza's Instagram story cleared the air that the blame was indicated at him.
Salman Mirza Gives Legal Threat To Journalist
Mirza effectively pointed out that the PCB has denied the baseless claims from the news agencies and also vowed that he will be taking legal action against ARY News journalist Shahid Hashmi, condemning his filthy reporting and unethical practices.
“An absurd News is circulating on media and I strongly condemn this sort of Cheap Journalism. Any Media House can't air any unverified news #Pakistan Cricket Board has already denied this Baseless & Fake News and i'm going to take Legal Action against #ShahidHashmi (Journalist) who works for ARY NEWS this sort of Flithy reporting must be banned and #Government must take action against such people,” Mirza wrote.
The 32-year-old, who travelled with the team before their T20 World Cup 2026 exit, featured in matches including one Super 8 clash against England.
Salman Mirza did not make a significant mark as he bagged four wickets from his outings with an economy rate of 6.78 and a strike rate of 13. His only notable performance came against the Netherlands when he scalped three wickets while conceding 24 runs.
