Pakistan Players during T20 World Cup 2026 (Source: AFP Photos)
Nothing is going in favour of Pakistan cricket at present, and things are turning from bad to worse in a rapid manner. After a dismal T20 World Cup 2026, where the Salman Agha-led side could not even qualify for the semi-finals, they found themselves in a new controversy, bringing humiliation to the country.
The PCB punished all Pakistan players for the shocking T20 World Cup exit, taking fines from all the personnel for a below-par collective performance. To add to the misery, Telecom Asia reported that one of the Pakistani players misbehaved with a female staff member while in Kandy. The news was first reported by a local publication from Sri Lanka.
More precisely, the report further claimed that the incident happened just before the Pakistan versus Sri Lanka T20 World Cup Super 8 clash, and the PCB subsequently fined him for his disgraceful actions. And ARY News further revealed that the culprit was Salman Mirza, the 32-year-old left-arm pacer from Pakistan.
PCB Clears Air After Shameful Salman Mirza Incident
Just as the topic became a subject for discussion in the cricket world, the PCB issued a statement on the matter. The board claimed that the all the information regarding Salman Mirza was “unverified, misleading, and handled irresponsibly,” and they will take all the necessary steps to further investigate and punish all the parties who are involved in spreading the fake news.
It is still unknown which side is right or wrong, but as things stand, the PCB’s official statement gave an indication of false news on the Pakistan left-arm pacer.
"The board has condemned the broadcast, saying the information was unverified, misleading, and handled irresponsibly. PCB has also made it clear that it may take legal or disciplinary action against those spreading false news," the PCB said in a statement.

Pakistan Vs Bangladesh Next! No Salman Mirza
Salman Mirza has a decent T20I record so far, with 23 wickets across 17 matches with an average of just over 16 while maintaining an economy rate of 6.43, speaking volumes. However, he is yet to play an ODI match for Pakistan, and not going to debut there any further, as the PCB did not include him in their forthcoming three-match ODI series in Bangladesh.
In overall T20s, Salman Mirza has got 65 wickets in 43 outings, and plays for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He also represents Dhaka Capitals in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). His PSL numbers for Lahore Qalandars are impressive, although his 11 wickets in six matches came at an expensive economy rate of 9.85.
Mirza's T20 World Cup 2026 numbers were, however, more significant than his overall record. There, he took four wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 6.77.
