CWI Director justifies 2026-27 central contracts list
CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe has said that one of the primary tasks for the West Indies men’s cricket team is to come up clutch in the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in February next year.
It is worth noting that the West Indies team failed to win the previous qualifier in 2023 as they did not secure a place in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India.
Justifying the 2026-27 men’s central contracts list, Miles Bascombe said, “For the men, the first job is the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in February, and we go there with every intention of making it through.”
Bascombe also emphasized the importance of the development contracts, with players like Jewel Andrew, Ackeem Auguste and Vitel Lawes forming a three-member group under this category.
He added, “Development contracts bring players into the international set-up, where we can support them most closely and guide their progress.”
