Khaleel Ahmed became part of an epic four-player trade between the CSK and SRH franchises on Thursday, November 5. As part of the trade, both Ahmed and Nathan Ellis will move to the SRH in exchange of CSK-inbound Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards.
Following the deal, the 29-year-old fast bowler penned an emotional farewell message for CSK fans as his stint with the franchise gets cut short to two seasons.
Khaleel Ahmed thanks CSK fans for “unforgettable journey”
On Thursday, Indian fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed took to his Instagram account and scripted an emotional farewell message for the CSK fans.
In an explosive social media post, the 29-year-old reminisced his two-season journey with the CSK, and thanked fans of the ‘Yellow Brigade’ for celebrating his every dot ball and wicket.
Ahmed wrote, “Two amazing years in Yellow Jersey. When I think of expressing these two years in words, my heart is full of gratitude. The memories, unconditional love, respect you gave are beyond words.”
The fast bowler added, “Thanks to every CSK fan. For every dot ball, every wicket, every great game you gave a loud cheer. I will never forget the way you lived and showed me ‘whistle’ through ups and downs. Heartfelt thanks to this family for the love, memories. Thank you yellow army for making this episode unforgettable.”
Earlier in the day, Khaleel Ahmed became one of the two fast bowlers, alongside Nathan Ellis, to be traded off by the CSK franchise for IPL 2027 in exchange of two SRH players, namely Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards.
It is worth noting that while Ahmed spent the last two IPL seasons with the CSK, he started off his IPL career with the SRH group. Making his debut in 2018, the left-arm quick played 24 matches for the SRH franchise in four different seasons up until 2021 before joining Delhi Capitals for the next three years.
Khaleel Ahmed record with CSK in IPL
Khaleel Ahmed was roped in by the CSK management at the IPL 2025 auction a couple of years ago. While he played all 14 CSK games in the 2025 edition of the tournament, the speedster played just five matches this year at the IPL 2026 season before an injury concern ruled him out midway into the competition.
Overall, he played 19 matches for the franchise, and collected 17 wickets in the process at a bowling average of 35.47.
Set to re-join the SRH after six years, it remains to be seen if the tearaway Indian paceman can re-create his IPL 2019 heroics for the ‘Orange Army’, a season where he nabbed 19 wickets in just 9 innings at 15.10.
