Days before the IPL 2027 retentions, another high-profile trade deal has been announced, this time involving CSK and SRH. SRH have been busy in the trade window, and on Thursday, they completed another deal as Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis joined them ahead of the IPL auction.

In return, the Super Kings acquired Jack Edwards and English batter Liam Livingstone to bolster their middle order and address their bowling woes.

This was CSK’s first deal of the window, and in this article, we take a look at CSK’s trade history and all the players they have sent or acquired in a trade deal.

Robin Uthappa (2021)

  • In 2021, the Chennai Super Kings traded Indian star Robin Uthappa from the Rajasthan Royals, as the franchise paid INR 3 crore in an all-cash deal.
  • Uthappa was at the twilight of his career when the franchise bought him, and the ex-Indian batter scored 345 runs in 16 matches, with a strike rate of 135.29.

Sanju Samson (2025)

  • CSK were involved in a blockbuster trade deal ahead of IPL 2026 as they went hard and bought the Rajasthan Royals skipper, Sanju Samson. Samson was bought for 18 crores, and in return, CSK gave away two players to RR: Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja.
  • The Kerala batter justified the price tag as he scored 477 runs in IPL 2026, including two hundreds to his name.

Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran (2025)

  • While CSK acquired Samson in a trade deal last winter, they gave away two of their high-profile players, Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja.
  • Curran didn’t play a single game in IPL 2026 as he withdrew due to an injury, and Jadeja, on the other hand, was decent as he scored 266 runs and managed to pick up 10 wickets in 14 games.

Jack Edwards, Liam Livingstone (2026)

In a surprising turn of events, CSK strengthened their batting and bowling departments by bringing in Jack Edwards and Liam Livingstone from Sunrisers Hyderabad.

CSK needed a finisher, and thus, Livingstone was brought in to do the job. Moreover, Edwards provides them with bowling depth and hitting capability in the lower order.

The English player will join CSK for 6 crores, and Edwards will play for them for his existing price (3 crores).

In return, SRH got Nathan Ellis and Khaleel Ahmed for a price of 2 crore and 4.8 crores, respectively.
