After the conclusion of the IPL 2026, the focus has shifted to India's international calendar. The Men in Blue are slated to face-off with Afghanistan in a multi-format series, which would to be the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the Indian colours after almost six months.
However, before the ODI, Team India will be at loggerheads with Afghanistan in the one-off Test match, starting from June 6 at New Chandigarh.
Under Shubman Gill's captaincy, India may feature a newly-tinted fast bowling line-up but about that later.
Rohit Sharma falls brutally on face
A video is circulating on social media where former India captain Rohit Sharma can be seen falling brutally on his face. Present in an unknown basement-like setup, Rohit missed seeing a huddle-like blockage and lost his balance.
Although CREX doesn't have any confirmation whether it's a fresh video or from the vault, it is making waves on social media, especially given the 39-year-old batter's history of injuries and fitness in the IPL 2026.

If it's a fresh video, it may have been from the opening ceremony of the T20 Mumbai League 2026, where Rohit was invited to toss the season's inaugural match as the ambassador of the league.
Rohit Sharma named in IND vs AFG ODI squad
The BCCI announced a strong squad to take on Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series, featuring a heavy batting line-up comprising Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and skipper Shubman Gill.
Although Rohit had a long hamstring injury in IPL 2026, the stylish batter didn't lose his touch, which was clearly evident in his match-winning knocks against KKR and LSG.
However, as the 39-year-old batter missed almost half of the season due to his injury, his selection in the IND vs AFG ODI squad allegedly remained a headache for the national selectors.
Moreover, if reports are to be believed, he is not in the plans of head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar for the marquee 2027 World Cup.
Exit door shown to Rohit Sharma as BCCI wanted transition
Redefining the idea that age is just a number, Rohit Sharma has been India's best batter over the turn of this decade. Since 2020, he has been a consistent batter across all formats, scoring 6391 runs in 151 innings, during which he has notched 12 centuries and 39 fifties.
Not only did he contribute as a batter, but he also led the Men in Blue, ending their ICC drought by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.
However, after India's triumph in the Champions Trophy, where Rohit won the Player of the Match in the final, he was replaced as captain for the subsequent series. The BCCI, meanwhile, named his successor as part of a leadership transition ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
