The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been facing severe criticism from former cricketers, experts, and fans for the team’s miserable outing at the T20 World Cup 2026. PCB’s policies and team selection are being brutally slammed after the Pakistan cricket team was knocked out of the tournament in the Super-8 stage

Meanwhile, the PCB received a big financial relief on the same day of their cricket team’s T20 World Cup exit. It has probably been the only good news for the Pakistan Cricket Board amid widespread criticism of the team's humiliating run in the marquee international tournament.

PCB signs massive deal for PSL 2026

The PCB and PSL secured the most cost-effective broadcast deal in their 10-year history on Saturday. The PCB and PSL have partnered with Walee Technologies for the next four-year period. The deal is understood to be for a large sum of PKR 26.11 billion (approx. 93 million US Dollars).

With 44 games in the upcoming season, the value per match in this deal has increased from PKR 122 million to PKR 148 million, a 21 gain. Meanwhile, the league is also set to feature three new teams, Pindi (formerly Multan Sultans), Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen and the Sialkot Stallionz.

Speaking of the ‘controversial’ Multan Sultans, the franchise was sold for PKR 2.45 million after the ex-owner, Ali Tareen, pulled out of the tournament. Tareen parted ways with PCB and PSL owing to the strong disagreements over managerial policies.

“Biggest broadcast deal in the history of Pakistan Cricket” - PSL CEO

After the broadcast deal with Walee Technologies, PSL called it a big success and named it the ‘biggest broadcast deal’ in the history of Pakistan cricket.

“This will be the biggest broadcast deal in the history of not only the PSL but also Pakistan cricket. The steep rise in valuation of PSL's commercial assets reflects the remarkable growth and credibility of PSL as a world-class league,” the PSL CEO, Salman Naseer, was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“We are delighted that all past records and valuations have been surpassed in this four-year term from 2026 to 2029.”

“The strategic alignment of both TV and live-streaming rights in the Pakistan region ensures that our fans can continue to enjoy the PSL experience across multiple platforms with added enhancements and innovations that will be developed and launched periodically,” he added later.
