The crowd at the Ekana Stadium on Thursday night hoped to witness another remarkable innings from Virat Kohli as LSG took on RCB in match 50 of the ongoing IPL 2026 on May 7. However, the fans were left shocked and upset when young pacer Prince Yadav produced a sensational delivery to dismiss the RCB star for a duck.

The wicket became one of the biggest moments of the LSG vs RCB match as Virat Kohli lasted only two balls at the crease.

It was Kohli's first IPL duck since 2023 and his first one while chasing in nearly nine years. The previous time Kohli had fallen for a duck in a chase came during the infamous 2017 match against KKR when RCB were bowled out for just 49.

LSG eventually defeated RCB by nine runs in a rain-affected match, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Mitchell Marsh starred with the bat for Lucknow, smashing a brilliant century to guide his side to a massive total.

How Did Prince Yadav Trap Virat Kohli?

RCB were chasing a revised DLS target of 213 in a 19-over contest after multiple rain interruptions. Virat Kohli walked in with huge expectations on his shoulders, but Prince Yadav had other plans.

The dismissal came in the second over of the innings. Prince Yadav first bowled an outswinger to set up the veteran batter. On the very next delivery, he produced a sharp inswinger.

Kohli moved forward to defend, expecting the ball to move away again, but it jagged back in sharply through the gap between bat and pad and crashed into the off stump.

The wicket immediately shifted momentum in Lucknow's favour. Prince went on to finish with impressive figures of 3/33, while Shahbaz Ahmed picked up two wickets. Despite a fighting 61 off 31 balls from RCB captain Rajat Patidar, RCB could manage 203/6.

Earlier in the evening, Mitchell Marsh had powered LSG to 209/3 with a breathtaking 111 off 56 balls.

The Australian star player stitched together crucial partnerships with Nicholas Pooran. Rishabh Pant then added a quick unbeaten 32 off just 10 balls to give LSG a strong finish.

Virat Kohli's Advice Helped Prince Deliver The Perfect Ball

After the match, Prince Yadav revealed an interesting conversation he had with Virat Kohli earlier in the tournament. According to the young pacer, Virat Kohli had advised him to keep hitting the right areas consistently.

โ€œVirat bhaiya the last time we met told me to stick to the length and focus on the line, tonight I did that and thankfully got the wickets,โ€ Prince said after the match.

Prince explained that Kohli had encouraged him to bowl around the off-stump channel and trust his natural movement.

Even Prince's IPL team LSG acknowledged Virat Kohli's earlier statement and took a sly dig at the Indian legend for helping the young Indian pacer.

After the LSG vs RCB match ended, Kohli was seen chatting warmly with Prince and LSG bowling coach Bharat Arun. The RCB batter was likely appreciating the quality of his bowling.

Who Will RCB Face Next In IPL 2026?

Despite the defeat, RCB remain strongly placed in the IPL 2026 points table. The defending champions are currently third with 12 points from 10 matches, having registered six wins and four defeats so far this season.

Rajat Patidar and his men will next face Mumbai Indians on May 10.
