In a shocking update, India's fast-bowling star Prasidh Krishna has reportedly been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand, starting on November 4.

The lanky pacer, who was initially named in the ODI and Test squads, was selected on the condition of getting fit in time.

Prasidh Krishna ruled out of IND vs NZ ODIs with hamstring injury

According to renowned journalist Mohsin Kamal, the 30-year-old Prasidh Krishna won’t be participating in the ODI series against New Zealand.

“Prasidh Krishna is ruled out of ODIs against New Zealand,” the journalist tweeted.

If reports are to be believed, J&K's Auqib Nabi, who was initially part of the squad for only the last two ODIs, is in line to replace the injured Krishna.

The star pacer suffered a left hamstring strain during the second ODI against the West Indies in early October.

Krishna has been recovering at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru since then. As reported earlier, he fought hard to get fit in time, but he would have failed to meet the BCCI medical team's guidelines.

It would be interesting to see whether the seam bowler can get fit in time for the two-match Test series following the IND vs NZ ODIs.

Prasidh Krishna, a crucial cog for Team India in build-up to 2027 WC

As the Indian team management battles to find quality fast bowlers who stay fit, Prasidh Krishna’s injury would be a huge headache for head coach Gautam Gambhir and his company, especially with Jasprit Bumrah's workload being managed until the next ODI World Cup.

Krishna is considered India’s X-factor for the South African conditions, with his height and hard-length bowling being crucial on those juicy surfaces.

Although India have a like-for-like replacement for the Karnataka speedster in Gurnoor Brar, Krishna’s fitness will remain the talking point in the build-up to the 2027 World Cup.

In 2026, no Indian bowler has taken more wickets than Krishna, who has 16 scalps in nine outings this year. Overall, the hit-the-deck bowler has taken 53 wickets in 30 innings at a strike rate of 27.2.
