The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made several changes to their coaching staff ahead of the IPL 2027. Albie Morkel and Gareth Batty have joined the franchise as assistant coaches, while Mohit Sharma has been appointed as the bowling coach.
Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has been appointed as CSK's head coach after Stephen Fleming's exit before IPL 2027.
Former India captain Kris Srikkanth has shared his views on CSK’s new coaching appointments and has made candid comments about former England off-spinner Gareth Batty.
Kris Srikkanth Shares His Views On CSK's New Assistant Coach Gareth Batty
Speaking about Gareth Batty's appointment on his YouTube channel, Cheeky Cheeka, Kris Srikkanth openly expressed his lack of familiarity with the former England cricketer.
"I am not sure about Gareth Batty. I’ve no clue who he is,” he said. “Maybe he is brilliant, but I am not sure."
However, Kris Srikkanth had a positive opinion of Albie Morkel, who previously played for CSK from 2008 to 2013.
"Albie Morkel is a good choice as he has played for them and been part of championship teams. He knows the CSK culture and was a committed cricketer. From what I know, he is the perfect team man."
"But it's good that CSK have done a complete overhaul and have a fresh engine with new oil. A new look is important for CSK, and they have to move on. Changes had to be made. Though I am not sure about Batty, CSK must have done their homework to appoint him. So he must be a good coach."

What Did Kris Srikkanth Say About Hardik Pandya’s Future at MI?
Kris Srikkanth also shared his thoughts on the speculation surrounding Hardik Pandya and his future with Mumbai Indians.
"With all these rumors associating him with all teams, I have a feeling he won't go anywhere and will remain in MI. They'll end up retaining him for one more season and then probably release him for the mega auction," said Srikkanth on Hardik Pandya.
He suggested that despite rumours linking the all-rounder with other teams, MI might retain Hardik Pandya for another season before considering a decision ahead of the next mega auction.
