In a significant development, South Africa's star player Marco Jansen has reached a major milestone in his career by becoming the no. 1 ranked Test bowler and Test all-rounder in the latest ICC Men’s Player Rankings released on October 28, 2026.

Meanwhile, India’s Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the top spot in the latest ICC T20I Rankings.

Marco Jansen Ends Ravindra Jadeja’s Four-Year Reign

Marco Jansen made significant progress across all three categories in the latest rankings. He climbed 13 places to reach 56th among Test batters. He is the first South African bowler to reach the no. 1 spot since Kagiso Rabada in November 2024.

Jansen is also the first South African to top the Test all-rounder rankings since Vernon Philander in August 2014.

The 26-year-old also moved up five places to become the no. 1 ranked Test bowler, overtaking Australia's Mitchell Starc. His impressive bowling performance against Australia helped him reach the top of the rankings for the first time in his career.

Marco Jansen's biggest achievement came in the Test all-rounder rankings, where he moved up one place to take the top position from India's Ravindra Jadeja.

It is important to note that Ravindra Jadeja had held the all-round no. 1 spot for more than four years.

Marco Jansen delivered an outstanding performance against Australia in the ongoing Australia tour of South Africa 2026. In 4 innings, Marco Jansen made 198 runs at an average of 49.50 and a strike rate of 80.82. With the ball, he bagged 10 wickets in 5 innings at an economy rate of 2.78.

Temba Bavuma Moves To Career-Best 2nd Position

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has also made significant progress in the latest ICC Test batting rankings. His match-winning innings in the SA vs AUS 2nd Test of 179 runs off 334 balls at a strike rate of 53.59 has lifted him four places to a career-best second position.

Australian fast bowler Scott Boland has moved up three places to 6th in the Test bowling rankings. South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder has also improved his position, climbing 10 places to 43rd.

Other Major Changes In ODI Rankings

The latest ICC rankings have also brought some changes in the ODI format as well.

England batters Ben Duckett and Harry Brook are among the players who have improved their positions in the ODI batting rankings. In the ODI bowling rankings, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has moved up two places to sixth, and Azmatullah Omarzai has climbed 13 places to 7th.

Meanwhile, experienced Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has moved up five places to third in the ODI all-rounder rankings.
