On Wednesday, on the moving day of the Group D fixture between Mumbai and Haryana, all-rounder Musheer Khan took a sensational five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy 2026/27 season.

Notably, the 21-year-old was the of his team's main batting linchpins, scoring a fifth First-Class century. As a result, Mumbai posted 430 runs on the board.

Musheer Khan becomes sixth Mumbaikar with century & fifer in a Ranji game

As Musheer Khan backed up his century with a five-wicket haul in the same Ranji fixture, he became the first Mumbai player to do so since Ravi Shastri achieved the milestone back in 1990/91.

Shastri, a renowned all-rounder of his generation, also became the first Mumbaikar to do so in 33 years. The former India captain and coach achieved the feat against Madhya Pradesh in 1990/91.

Overall, only six cricketers from Mumbai have achieved the milestone of scoring a hundred and picking a fifer in the same Ranji fixture.

The first all-rounder to do so was Madan Raiji, who bagged it in the 1947/48 season against Maharashtra. He was followed up by Dattu Phadkar vs Madras in 1948/49.

The legendary Vinoo Mankad (vs Madras in 1953/54) and Polly Umrigar (vs Maharashtra, 1957/58) bagged the sensational record.

Musheer Khan on verge of creating history in Ranji Trophy

As Haryana are reeling in the ongoing Group D fixture of the Ranji Trophy, Musheer Khan has been the only bankable bowler for Mumbai. The left-arm spinner has bagged all five wickets so far, with the visitors at 217/5 after 86 overs at BKC.

If he could pick up the remainder of the wickets in the innings, Musheer will become the fourth bowler to pick all ten wickets in a Ranji innings. However, what he would want is support from the other bowlers.

Mumbai are 209 runs ahead of Haryana with nearly five sessions remaining in the match.
