The ICC is going through a major leadership shuffle as a key member of Pakistan origin has stepped down from his role. This happened a year after Jay Shah took over as ICC chairman.

Jay Shah was previously the secretary of the BCCI, and he was elected as ICC chief unanimously in December 2024. However, under his tenure, a Pakistani-origin administrator abruptly left his role.

Wasim Khan steps down as ICC general manager

In the latest development, Pakistan-origin administrator Wasim Khan has stepped down as general manager at the ICC after serving four years in the role.  He will officially leave at the end of June 2026 and is expected to take up a new role from July.

Khan took over the position of general manager in 2022, replacing Geoff Allardice when Allardice became ICC CEO.

During his tenure, he oversaw international cricket schedules, managed FTP and balanced bilateral cricket vs franchise league clashes. But after Jay Shah became ICC chairman, Wasim Khan decided to step down.

Apart from Wasim Khan, Geoff Allardice also quit as ICC CEO. Chris Tetley exited as events head while Alex Marshall also left the anti-corruption unit.
