Everyone loves a good comeback story. In the spirit of such stories, Pakistan veteran Mohammad Rizwan seems to be scripting a rebellious tale of his own following his recent troubles with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

After getting dropped midway into the series in England and after landing in a legal trouble with the board, the senior wicketkeeper-batter just struck a commanding double century in the opening match of the 2026-27 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold season.

Double Delight for Mohammad Rizwan in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy opener

Legendary Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan notched up his 16th first-class century on the opening day of the 2026-27 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold season on November 3. Batting at number five for the Peshawar Region Blues team in Abbottabad, the cricketer reached 111* off 142 balls with 21 boundaries by stumps.

The following day, Rizwan converted his welcome century into a double delight for himself. Taking Faisalabad Region bowlers to the cleaners, the 34-year-old brought up his double century from 391 balls halfway into the day with 35 fours and a six.

Rizwan’s innings, coupled with a sterling century from number four Najab Khan, helped Peshawar Region Blues mount 503-4 in 115 overs at one stage of Day 2.

Mohammad Rizwan fights back against PCB in style

Mohammad Rizwan toured England just a couple of months ago as part of the Pakistan squad for a three-match Test series. However, following his extended lean patch with the bat, the cricketer became one of the seven players to be removed from the squad midway into the series.

Moreover, Rizwan also became a subject of a thorough investigation from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Pakistan. His phone was confiscated, his integrity questioned as the senior wicketkeeper-batter was forced to answer a series of questions for allegations related to online betting and gambling.

Be that as it may, the latest double hundred from Mohammad Rizwan serves as a fitting response to his recent setbacks, allowing the veteran to let his bat do the talking amid the off-field controversies.

As of now, it remains to be seen if Rizwan’s knock is just the first of many such dominant performances as he looks to reclaim his place in Pakistan’s national setup and put his recent troubles behind him.
