Mohammad Amir seems to have intensified his media rivalry with former Pakistan captain Babar Azam. The legendary paceman recently reposted a controversial video on his Instagram account, where a social media cricket expert can be seen making a case of Amir’s superior track record over Babar, especially in PSL matches.

Incidentally, the former Pakistan fast bowler shared the same just a day after getting bashed all over the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore by the Peshawar Zalmi captain in match three of the PSL 2026 season.

The timing of the re-post indicates a subtle response from Amir following his on-field encounter with the Peshawar Zalmi skipper in Lahore. In the video, the self-proclaimed expert can be seen bragging about Amir’s superior track record against Babar in PSL matches, despite failing to dismiss him in match number three of the ongoing season.

Babar Azam punishes Mohammad Amir with exquisite shots

Chasing 215 for a win in Lahore, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam got his side off to a flier against RawalPindiZ new ball paceman Mohammad Amir in the first over of the innings. The legendary Pakistani batter struck Amir with two elegant boundaries on his way to scoring a swift 39.

The Zalmi skipper got off the mark with an exquisite cover drive, before dispatching Amir with a clip between mid-on and mid-wicket to end the over.

Amir still on top of Babar in PSL matches

Overall, in PSL matches, Mohammad Amir still holds a formidable record against Babar Azam. It is worth noting that Babar has been dismissed thrice by Amir, and he averages a dismal 14.3 with the bat against the former paceman. The former Pakistan skipper even holds a below par batting strike rate of only 104.9.

Backdrop of Amir vs Babar rivalry

History suggests that all is not quite well between the two 2017 ICC Champions Trophy winning teammates. Appearing on Pakistani sports shows and talking on his YouTube channel, Mohammad Amir has often remained vocal about Babar’s performance for the national team.

The ex-speedster even once called Babar “not a brave captain” and criticized the cricketer’s decision making. Despite all their public disagreements, Amir has, on occasions, also backed Babar and acknowledged his stature as a top-tier batter for Pakistan.

Babar’s Peshawar Zalmi steamroll RawalPindiZ

Babar Azam’s cracking start also set up path of a comprehensive Peshawar Zalmi win in match three of the PSL 2026 season. Chasing 215, the skipper compiled 39 off 28 balls, while opening batter Mohammad Harris top-scored with 47.

Michael Bracewell and Abdul Samad also slapped electrifying 30s in the middle order to make lightwork of RawalPindiZ’s monumental total.
