On Saturday afternoon, all the attention was on the battle between Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir, who faced off in a PSL 2026 match between Peshawar Zalmi and RawalpindiZ at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

And it was Babar Azam who had the last laugh, as Amir had nowhere else to go after getting bashed.

Babar Azam vs Mohammad Amir In PSL 2026

Babar was facing Amir during the first over of Peshwar Zalmi’s innings. Mohammad Haris took a single off the first ball to get Babar on strike. Babar played a dot on the first delivery he faced, and followed it with a beautiful cover drive.

To finish things off, Babar clipped a length ball and played it through mid-wicket for another boundary.

At the end of the over, Amir was caught frustrated on camera while going towards his fielding position after completing his over.

Babar Off To A Flying Start In PSL 2026

Babar Azam did not have a great PSL 2025 with the bat. Even though he is the highest run getter in the history of the competition, only behind Fakhar Zaman, he could only muster 288 runs across 10 innings, that too at a strike rate of 128.57.

However, Babar made a solid start in PSL 2026, having scored 39 of 28 deliveries with two fours and one six.

Why Amir Vs Babar Often Made Headlines?

The history between Mohammad Amir and Babar Azam has not gone well. While Babar remained silent most of the time, Amir stayed vocal about Babar’s performance.

For the most part, Amir criticised Babar for his dismal performance for Pakistan, but at times he also supported the former Pakistan captain.

Peshawar In Charge Against RawalpindiZ

Earlier in the match, RawalpindiZ made 214/4, with captain Mohammad Rizwan scoring 41 off 32 balls. Yasir Khan was the hero, having smashed 83 balls off 46 deliveries with the help of six sixes and seven fours.

The following batters – Kamran Ghulam, Daryl Mitchell and Sam Billings chipped in with handy contributions, which eventually helped them to get past 200.

Coming to chase, Babar gave Peshawar a flying start, and he was ably supported by Mohammad Haris. They forged a 78-run stand for the opening wicket, and Kusal Mendis kept the momentum going.

At the time of writing this, Peshawar are 130/3 after 13.5 overs. Aaron Hardie could not hit boundaries, as he fell for a 10-ball 8, to Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain.

The onus will now be on Kusal Mendis and Michael Bracewell to get the job done, as Peshwar require 85 runs off 37 balls. They have Farhan Yousaf, Abdul Samad and Aamer Jamal still to come among the ones who can bat.
