Legendary pacer Mitchell Starc reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings on Wednesday (November 4). In the process, the reign of Marco Jansen, who became the No. 1-ranked bowler in the red-ball format just seven days ago, ended.
Starc took 6/72 and 3/65 for Australia against South Africa in Cape Town. Thanks to his heroics, he got back to where he was a week ago.
Marco Jansen's First-Ever Reign In ICC Rankings Gets Over In A Week
Along with rising to the top of the ICC Test all-rounder rankings, Jansen moved to the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings last week, replacing Mitchell Starc. This was the first time Jansen achieved the feat.
Unfortunately for him, Starc ruined his mood by dethroning him just after one match.
Currently, Starc has 881 rating points in the ICC rankings. Jansen, on the other hand, has 875 points. They are followed by Matt Henry (861), Ollie Robinson (856) and Jasprit Bumrah (853).
However, Jansen remained at the top of the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. He has 463 rating points there, while Ravindra Jadeja, who sits at second place, has 422 points.
Meanwhile, Simon Harmer, who took 10 wickets in the Cape Town Test, moved to the top 5 in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. He is now ranked fifth, and thus, three South Africans, including Jansen and third-placed Wiaan Mulder, are among the top 5 in the chart.
Shreyas Iyer Jumps To 7th In ICC T20I Rankings
In other news, Shreyas Iyer moved up two places to 7th in the ICC T20I rankings for batsmen. Courtesy of smashing a stunning half-century, Iyer became the third Indian in the ICC top seven T20I rankings for batsmen, after Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan.
Iyer has 777 rating points, while Abhishek and Ishan, placed at the top and third ranks, respectively, have 889 and 862 points.
Glenn Phillips, who scored 341 runs across five innings in IND vs NZ T20Is, jumped 13 places to 24th in the ICC rankings.
