The BCCI also included teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India’s 15-member squad for the tours of Ireland and England. Aged 15, the cricketer will become the youngest player to play an international match for India if he is selected in the playing XI at any stage of the tour.

Sooryavanshi was selected in India squad following his prolific IPL 2026 season for the Rajasthan Royals. He also starred in India’s U19 World Cup win earlier this year.

KL Rahul, Shubman Gill tons pulverize Afghanistan

India mounted 368-3 in 85 overs by stumps on Day 1 of their one-off Test against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh. Prolific opener KL Rahul and captain Shubman Gill both notched up centuries in the innings, with the latter of the two reaching an unbeaten 103* off 143 balls before close of play.

Sai Sudharsan at number three also made a regal 81 off 104 balls, while Risbabh Pant raced to a swift 50* off 70 balls with two boundaries and three huge sixes.

Yashasvi Jaiswal replaces Virat Kohli in Afghanistan ODIs

Indian Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named as the official replacement of injured Virat Kohli for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Earlier, it was reported that CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad will be replacing Kohli for the series.

However, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that it will be Jaiswal who will join the Indian ODI team right after the ongoing one-off Test in New Chandigarh against the same opponents.

Dhruv Jurel to lead India A in Sri Lanka

The BCCI also named a 15-player India A squad for the upcoming multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A later this month. Dhruv Jurel was appointed as captain of the team. The team also includes Ruturaj Gaikwad, vice-captain Devdutt Padikkal, Sai Sudharsan, Harsh Dubey, Yash Thakur and Ranji Trophy hero Auqib Nabi.

The India A team will play two four-day matches in Sri Lanka between June 25 and July 5.
