In a significant development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally announced the India A squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka 2026. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee revealed the squad on June 6, 2026.
The BCCI has also announced squads for the upcoming Ireland and England tours, as well as the Asian Games.
India A Squad For Sri Lanka 2026
The India A team will be led by wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who has been named captain of the side. Devdutt Padikkal has been appointed vice-captain.
It is important to mention that Jammu and Kashmir fast-bowler Auqib Nabi has been included in the squad. The player has impressed selectors with his outstanding performances in domestic cricket.
Looking at his numbers in Ranji Elite 2025-26, Nabi took 60 wickets in 17 innings at an economy rate of 2.65.
However, in IPL 2026, the pacer failed to make a significant impact; in 5 innings, he took no wickets and leaked runs at an economy rate of 11.46.
Auqib Nabi Also Included
Earlier this year, Auqib Nabi played a vital role in helping Jammu and Kashmir win their first-ever Ranji Trophy title.
The batting department includes Sai Sudharsan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, N Jagadeesan, and captain Dhruv Jurel.
The selectors have included domestic performers Aman Mokhade of Vidarbha and Shaik Rasheed of Andhra in the India A squad.

The pace-bowling attack includes Auqib Nabi, Yash Thakur, Anshul Kamboj, and Gurnoor Brar. The spin department will be led by leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari and off-spinner Saransh Jain.
Kamboj has previously represented India at the international level, and Gurnoor Brar has also been in the spotlight recently after receiving a call-up to the Indian Test squad for the ongoing one-off match against Afghanistan.

India A Tour of Sri Lanka 2026 Schedule
The India A side will play two unofficial Test matches against Sri Lanka A at the Galle International Stadium. The first unofficial Test will begin on June 25, while the second unofficial Test will start on July 2.
The series is considered an important preparation opportunity ahead of India's two-match Test series in Sri Lanka scheduled for August.
The players will get a chance to adjust to spin-friendly conditions and gain experience.
Both matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM local time.

Several members of the India A multi-day series squad, including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ayush Badoni, Yash Thakur, and Anshul Kamboj, are already in Sri Lanka.
The players are part of the India A team participating in the 50-over tri-series that begins on June 9 in Dambulla. This series will feature India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A, with seven matches.
