A rare occurrence saw England's bowlers create history after almost two decades during the England vs Pakistan first Test at Leeds. The visitors came out to bat first and were bowled out for just 171 runs, with only two bowlers from the England team taking all 10 wickets.

Interestingly, four bowlers were used during the 49-over innings, including Ollie Robinson, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, and Josh Tongue. However, only two of them were successful in claiming wickets and sending Pakistan back to the pavilion for a meagre total on Day 1 of the match.

Ollie Robinson, Josh Tongue Recreate History With Rare Five-Fers

Surprisingly, England's pace stars Josh Tongue and Ollie Robinson managed to take five wickets each to clean up the Men in Green, with no contribution from Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson in the wickets column.

While Jofra Archer bowled nine overs, he delivered four maidens, the most among all the bowlers who bowled against Pakistan in this innings. He conceded only 26 runs but remained wicketless. Gus Atkinson, meanwhile, bowled 12 overs and conceded 40 runs while also remaining wicketless.

It was Robinson and Tongue's partnership that left Pakistan in trouble after their first innings. Notably, Ollie Robinson took five wickets for 51 runs, including three maidens, from his 18-over spell. Robinson first broke through with the wicket of Azan Awais, followed by Shan Masood, while Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed by Josh Tongue.

Breaking important partnerships, the duo continued to dismantle Pakistan's batting line-up from top to bottom, with Tongue delivering the final blow by dismissing Mohammad Abbas with the first ball of the 49th over.

Tongue bowled 9.1 overs and managed to claim five wickets, cleaning up Pakistan's middle and lower order while maintaining an economy rate of 5.02.

Robinson-Tongue Strike Awkward Pose For The Camera

After completing the 10-wicket haul between them, the duo were also seen striking an awkward pose while walking back to the pavilion, with Josh Tongue and Ollie Robinson posing for the cameras.

Usually, bowlers who take four- or five-wicket hauls raise their hands while holding the red ball as part of their celebrations. Since the duo managed to take five wickets each, they raised each other's hands towards the camera to celebrate the significant record they had just created.

Notably, this has happened for the first time since 2006, when two England bowlers took all 10 wickets in an innings. Incidentally, the last time it happened was also against Pakistan.

Incidentally, the same feat of two bowlers taking five-wicket hauls took place on July 27, 2006, in a Test between Pakistan and England.

That time, England bowlers Steve Harmison and Monty Panesar combined their pace and spin expertise to take all 10 Pakistani wickets. After Pakistan posted 119 runs in their first innings, England amassed 461 runs after solid contributions from Alastair Cook and Ian Bell.

In an attempt to defend their lead, Pakistan were once again troubled by Harmison and Panesar. The opening pair were dismissed by the two bowlers within the first 21 overs. Soon enough, Pakistan were struggling at 174/6, with Panesar claiming most of the top-order wickets.

The lower middle order and tailenders were eventually cleaned up by Harmison, with Abdul Razzaq becoming the final wicket. His dismissal put the final nail in the coffin for Pakistan, who were bowled out for 222 runs, as England won the match by an innings and 120 runs.
