In an interesting revelation, RCB’s Jitesh Sharma addressed Vaibhav Suryavanshi as a 15-16-year-old while comparing his playing style to a Bollywood movie called ‘Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii.’
Just days ahead of the IPL 2026 season commencement, RCB wicket-keeper Jitesh did an interview with popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia. During the chat, he spoke at length about wonder kid Vaibhav, but with a twist.
Jitesh Sharma accidentally spills Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s real age
During the chat, host Ranveer Allahbadia asked Jitesh Sharma to share his thoughts on Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
The wicket-keeper said Suryavanshi is a big fan of the Bollywood movie ‘Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii’ as the main character of the film is a kid who smashes runs, just like how Vaibhav does.
The film tells the story of a young boy who dreams of becoming a cricketer and suddenly makes it big with the help of a “magic bat".
This closely mirrors Suryavanshi’s real-life journey, as he is also a teenage prodigy, already making waves in the IPL and India A and is known for fearless, attacking batting from ball one.
However, Jitesh Sharma accidentally addressed Vaibhav Suryavanshi as a 15-16-year-old kid and not 14. There has been enough chatter around age fraud with Suryavanshi, given his supreme talent.
While Vaibhav’s official age remains 14, Jitesh Sharma’s slip-up has once again stirred the age debate around Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Jitesh earlier questioned Vaibhav’s professionalism
Previously, in an interview with AB de Villiers, Jitesh Sharma also made a funny comment about Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s habits. He said the kid is not professional off the field.
Despite repeated objections from Jitesh, Vaibhav is apparently unable to drop his habit of eating ice cream at night.
While social media blew this comment out of proportion, this was clearly said in a joking, friendly tone, not criticism.
Keeping the jokes aside, Jitesh Sharma made it clear that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has huge potential. He has a “gear 6” batting ability and can dominate world cricket in the future.
Vaibhav Suryanvanshi turns 15 today
That being said, Vaibhav Suryanvanshi is in fact celebrating his 15th birthday today, March 27. He is all set to play for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 season.
Vaibhav is expected to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal now that Sanju Samson is traded to CSK. Suryavanshi did show a lot of potential last year when he hit a century and overall scored 252 runs in 7 innings.
His talent is undeniable, and this season, expectations from the kid will be much higher, given his recent success in U19 and age-group cricket.
Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL 2026 campaign on March 30 against CSK at Guwahati.
