Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah has recently come into the spotlight during the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL). Notably, he became part of a controversy after a social media post related to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz created a lot of discussion online.
The issue started during the opening events of the PSL 2026. Maryam Nawaz attended the event as a special guest and was welcomed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials. She was present as the guest of honour for the match between the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and the Hyderabad Kingsmen.

During the event, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed her and introduced her to the franchise owners who were participating in the tournament. She also gave her best wishes to all the teams. After that, she was introduced to players from both teams before the opening match ceremony.
Soon after the event, a post appeared on Naseem Shah’s social media account. In that post, he questioned why Maryam Nawaz was being given so much special attention at the event. He shared a video clip in which she was being welcomed by PSL officials at Gaddafi Stadium.
Naseem wrote a line asking why she was being treated like a queen at Lord’s. This comment quickly went viral on social media. Many people reacted strongly, and the discussion spread very fast online. The now-deleted message read: “Why is she being treat like the queen at Lords?”
The post was deleted shortly after it was uploaded. By that time, screenshots of the post had already spread across social media platforms. This made the controversy even bigger.
Later, Naseem said that his social media account had been hacked and the post did not represent his personal opinion. The 28-year-old pacer also said that the account had now been recovered successfully.
“This account of Naseem was recently hacked but now recovered successfully,” he wrote.
