Vaibhav Suryavanshi Gets India Call-Up Approval

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in excellent form and the young batter has continued to impress the world. Whether playing for his IPL team Rajasthan Royals or for India’s Under-19 teams, he has performed well in almost every match. As a result, he is now seen as one of the most promising young cricketers in India.

Notably, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history when he debuted in the IPL at the age of 14 years and 23 days. He entered the game as an Impact Player during Rajasthan Royals’ chase against LSG.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed record-breaking IPL century

Interestingly, Suryavanshi started his IPL career in a very exciting way and hit a six on the very first ball he faced, which was bowled by Shardul Thakur. In only his third IPL match for Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav played an incredible innings. The left-handed opener scored a century in just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans.

With this innings, he broke several records. He became the youngest player to score a century in IPL history. He also broke Yusuf Pathan’s record for the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian player. This innings made him very famous and established him as a future star.

Suryavanshi shines in Under-19 World Cup

Alongside his IPL success, the teenager continued to shine in international youth cricket. He performed consistently during tours in Australia, England, and South Africa. Moreover, his most memorable performance came in the final of the ICC Men's U-19 World Cup against England. 

In that match, he scored an incredible 175 runs off just 80 balls, hitting 15 sixes and 15 fours. Consequently, he played a key role in securing victory for India. This match-winning performance helped India win the final and became one of the biggest moments of his young career.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi now eligible for India selection

After performing well in the IPL, Under-19 World Cup, and other matches, Vaibhav has now reached another important milestone. Vaibhav Suryavanshi turned 15 years old on March 27, 2026. 

According to ICC rules, a player must be at least 15 years old to play international cricket. Now that he has turned 15, after Vaibhav Suryavanshi birthday, he is officially eligible to be selected for the Indian senior team.

In the past, a few players played international cricket at a very young age. One example is Pakistan’s Hasan Raza, who became the youngest Test cricketer. Now Vaibhav also has the opportunity to enter international cricket at a young age.

It is also important to note that the selectors now have an important decision to make. They can either select him early for the Indian team or give him more time to develop his game. 

Notably, there is strong competition for the opening position in the Indian team in white-ball format. Even then, Vaibhav is now eligible to play alongside big players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the future.

Suryavanshi will next be seen playing in IPL 2026 for Rajasthan Royals. The team will start their tournament against Chennai Super Kings on Monday, March 30.
