On Tuesday, May 5, the ICC updated their annual T20 team rankings. The International Cricket Council rewarded teams who performed during the T20 World Cup 2026, and defending champions, India were the team rewarded the most.
Talking about the updated rankings, India are placed 1st on the table with 275 rating points. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side had a brilliant year, as they beat New Zealand comprehensively in the final to lift their 3rd T20 World Cup title.
India At Top, Pakistan At 6th
Interestingly, there is no changes in the top seven positions in the Men’s T20 team rankings. India are at the top with 275 points. They are followed by England at second with 262 points. Australia are 3rd with 258 rating.
Further, New Zealand are fourth on the ranking charts despite reaching the finals of the T20 World Cup 2026. South Africa are 5th on the table while Pakistan are 6th with just 240 rating points.

Talking about the Salman Ali Agha-led side, they had a terrible T20 World Cup campaign. Pakistan reached the Super 8, but they bowed out of the tournament with just 3 points in three matches. The Men in Green failed to reach the knockout stages, resulting in them staying at the 6th position on the ranking charts.
Sri Lanka Slip To 9th, USA Take a Big Jump
Sri Lanka slipped to the ninth spot as it saw a drop of 6 rating points. They are now placed below the West Indies. Thankfully, the Island Nation does not fear missing out on the T20 World Cup 2028 because they reached the super 8 in the T20 World Cup 2026.
Notably, Sri Lanka, who were the hosts, failed to win a solitary game in the Super 8 stage. Rest, Afghanistan, are merely one point away from Sri Lanka at 10th with 220 points, while Zimbabwe and Ireland also retain their ranks at 11th and 12th.
The USA rose to 13th while the Netherlands and Scotland are at 14th and 15th ranks. Namibia was unchanged at 16th place while Nepal (17th) and Oman (19th) jumped a spot each, overtaking UAE (18th) and Canada (20th) respectively.
Australia Remain At No.1 In Women's T20 Annual Ranking
Besides the men's T20 rankings, the ICC also released the women's annual T20 rankings. Notably, Australia remain at the top spot with a 12-point lead over England who are second on the list.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side are placed 3rd on the table with 264 points. Interestingly, there is no change in the top-16 ratings of the teams. Shedding light on Pakistan women, they are 8th on the list, five places below India, who are 3rd on the list.
Notably, things can shake a there is Women's T20 World Cup coming up in June.
