ICC Announces Brutal Punishment For Yashasvi Jaiswal-Asitha Fernando Fight

In a significant development, the ICC has passed its verdict on Yashasvi Jaiswal-Asitha Fernando fight which took place on Day 1 of 2nd Test between India and Sri Lanka. The International Cricket Council has announced heavy fines for both players.

The ICC has found Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando guilty of breaching Code of Conducts and have been slapped with heavy fines following their physical altercation on Day 1 of the 2nd Test.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Escapes Match Ban by ICC

Yashasvi Jaiswal has escaped a match ban and has been slapped with 25% of his match fees and one demerit point for inappropriate physical contact. It is Jaiswal's first massive offence in last 24 months, which is why he won't serve any match suspension.

Asitha Fernando also has been fined 25% of his match fees for igniting the fight. Notably, it was his first offence as well in the last 24 months. Both players have been found guilty of breaching ICC Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

ICC Article 2.12: “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match).”
