ICC Announces Brutal Punishment For Yashasvi Jaiswal-Asitha Fernando Fight

Yashasvi Jaiswal Fined - (Source: AFP)In a significant development, the ICC has passed its verdict on Yashasvi Jaiswal-Asitha Fernando fight which took place on Day 1 of 2nd Test between India and Sri Lanka. The International Cricket Council has announced heavy fines for both players.The ICC has found Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando guilty of breaching Code of Conducts and have been slapped with heavy fines following their physical altercation on Day 1 of the 2nd Test.Yashasvi Jaiswal Escapes Match Ban by ICCYashasvi Jaiswal has escaped a match ban and has been slapped with 25% of his match fees and one demerit point for inappropriate physical contact. It is Jaiswal's first massive offence in last 24 months, which is why he won't serve any match suspension.Asitha Fernando also has been fined 25% of his match fees for igniting the fight. Notably, it was his first offence as well in the last 24 months. The Sri Lankan seamer was animated, knowing it was a big wicket.Yashasvi Jaiswal was upset and started his walk towards the pavilion with his head hanging in shame. However, some words were exchanged by Asitha Fernando, which resulted in Jaiswal getting angry and returning to confront the right-arm seamer.The matter lit up in no seconds and the two players gave a headbutt to each other before rest of the squad separated the two and asked Jaiswal to go to the dressing room.Yashasvi Jaiswal Responds To CriticismFollowing the incident, Yashasvi Jaiswal faced a lot of criticism because he was the one who had the protective gear on and yet headed for a head butt. Not just Sri Lanka pundits, but former India cricketers too criticised Jaiswal for his actions.“Heat of the moment tha, Yashasvi ko itne kareeb nahi jaana chahiye tha. [It was the heat of the moment.
