Sri Lanka A and India A will renew their rivalry in the second unofficial Test at the Galle International Stadium on July 2 after an entertaining opening match ended in a draw.

Both sides produced several standout performances in the first Test. India A piled up 452/6 declared on the back of centuries from captain Dhruv Jurel and Sai Sudharsan, while Shaik Rasheed also impressed with a composed half-century.

Sri Lanka A responded with determination to ensure the contest finished without a result, setting up an intriguing decider in the two-match series.

Sri Lanka A, led by Sahan Arachchige, will once again rely on experienced wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella alongside Ahan Wickramasinghe, Ashen Bandara and Ravindu Fernando to deliver with the bat.

Their bowling attack, featuring Chamika Gunasekara, Dilum Sudeera Thilakaratne, Mohamed Shiraz and Kavindu Pathiratne, will look to make greater inroads after India A's dominant batting display in the opening game.

India A, under Dhruv Jurel, will be full of confidence after their top order clicked in the first Test. Sai Sudharsan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikkal and Shaik Rasheed form a strong batting unit, while Harsh Dubey, Saransh Jain, Zeeshan Ansari, Anshul Kamboj and Auqib Nabi provide a balanced bowling attack.

So, ahead of the much-anticipated Sri Lanka A vs India A 2nd Unofficial Test, let's take a look at the Galle Stadium pitch report and weather forecast of Galle.

[Galle International Stadium Test match stats]

The Galle International Stadium has traditionally been one of the best venues in Sri Lanka for Test cricket, offering a fair contest between bat and ball during the opening stages before gradually becoming a paradise for spinners.

Batters to settle early can score heavily, as reflected by the first-innings average of 40.07 runs per wicket. The surface generally remains good for batting across the first two days, but as cracks begin to open and the pitch dries out, spin bowlers become increasingly difficult to handle from Day 3 onwards.

Pacers can find some assistance with the new ball during the opening session, but the dry Galle surface usually favours spin for the majority of the contest. Teams with quality slow bowlers are expected to hold the upper hand once the pitch begins to wear.

The toss has historically played an important role at Galle, with teams opting to bat first enjoying greater success.

Out of 49 Tests played at the venue, teams batting first have won 26 matches, while sides bowling first have managed 16 victories, with seven matches ending in draws. Captains winning the toss have chosen to bat first in 44 of those 49 Tests, winning 24 of them.

Considering the nature of the surface and how much it deteriorates over five days, the captain winning the toss is expected to bat first.
