India vs England 1st T20I: As it happened
Before the rain drama hit Durham, Team India put up a monumental total of 189-7 from 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first.
The visitors did lose the early wickets, much like it happened during their preceding Ireland tour last week. Opening batter Sanju Samson as well as number three Ishan Kishan both fell within the first two overs of the game, with the latter of the two making his way back to the dugout owing to a runout.
Abhishek Sharma launched India’s counterattack with a fiery 24-ball 59-run knock. He shared an 82-run partnership with captain Shreyas Iyer. Abhishek’s six-laden knock also helped him complete 100 maximums in the format, to become the fastest cricketer in the world to do so in terms of number of balls faced.
Captain Iyer also compiled 68 runs off 47 balls with six boundaries and a six, and Shivam Dube blasted an unbeaten 42 off 21 balls with two fours and three huge maximums.
For England, fast bowler and comeback man Saqib Mahmood unfurled the spell of the high-scoring innings with impressive figures of 3-33. Adil Rashid and senior all-rounder Sam Curran also picked up a wicket each in their combined seven overs.
India to face England in Manchester
