New Zealand cricketer Devon Conway was released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. The Kiwi left-handed opener couldn’t find a buyer in the IPL 2026 auction and hence signed up for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 auction.
He was signed up by Islamabad United for PKR 63 million and has played in their PSL 2026 opener as well.
However, it seems like Conway still yearns for his old Indian Premier League franchise, the Chennai Super Kings, as a post was made from an account named Devon Conway on X (previously known as Twitter), where he took a dig at his Pakistan Super League (PSL) commitment while praising the CSK franchise.
Chennai Super Kings were dominated by Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2026 opener
Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad managed just six runs each, while Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for a golden duck and Matt Short contributed only two. Amid the collapse, Sarfaraz Khan (17) and debutant Kartik Sharma (18) tried to steady the innings.
Jamie Overton then played a crucial knock of 43 off 36 balls, guiding CSK to a modest total of 127. For RR, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets apiece.
In response, RR’s chase was headlined by 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who dominated the CSK bowlers with an explosive display. Smashing five sixes and three fours, he raced to 52 off just 17 balls before getting out.
Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 38, while Dhruv Jurel (18) and Riyan Parag (14*) chipped in as RR comfortably chased down the target in 12.1 overs, securing an eight-wicket victory.

Fact Check: Did Devon Conway really diss the PSL and show hurt after CSK’s loss?
An account by the name of Devon Conway quickly said he found it difficult to watch his former team struggle but hinted at a strong comeback when the two sides meet again in Chennai.
Fans were quick to react to that post by a blue-tick-verified account with the name of Devon Conway. They mocked the New Zealand cricketer about CSK losing to RR but didn’t verify whether the account was a real one or a fake one.
Actually, the account—@D_Conway88—doesn't belong to Conway at all and is a fake account attributed to the Kiwi player. This detail was missed by everyone who interacted with the account.
The real Devon Conway made 26 runs on his Pakistan Super League debut for Islamabad United against Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 28. Islamabad United will next face Peshawar Zalmi at the same venue on March 31, 2026, in a night game.
