Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was in full swing as his team took on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2026 opener. This match was played on March 30, 2026, at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
The match saw Riyan Parag win the toss and choose to bowl first, seeing that there was something in the pitch for the pace bowlers. And his intuition came good as RR pacers completely blew away the Chennai Super Kings top order.

Chennai Super Kings batters find life difficult against Rajasthan Royals pacers on a lively pitch
Openers Sanju Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad managed 6 runs each, while Ayush Mhatre scored a golden duck. Sarfaraz Khan with 17 runs and Kartik Sharma with 18 runs stemmed the fall of wickets. It was because of Jamie Overton’s 43-run knock that CSK managed to put 127 runs on the board.
For the RR team, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, and Ravindra Jadeja all took two wickets each. It was a brilliant display of pace bowling by RR bowlers, and even the spinners got some grip out of the surface as Jadeja accounted for Sarfaraz Khan and the dangerous Shivam Dube.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s A 15-ball half-century takes the wind out of the Chennai Super Kings bowlers
The Rajasthan Royals’s chase started with a bang thanks to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Right from the start, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hammered the CSK bowlers to all parts of the Guwahati Stadium. He raced off to a 15-ball fifty, eventually falling for 52 runs in 17 balls. But he had done his job, hitting 4 sixes and 5 fours, adding 75 runs for the first wicket in 6.2 overs.
Dhruv Jurel then hammered a quick-fire 18 in 9 balls before being bowled by Anshul Kamboj, and hence RR captain Riyan Parag joined Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease, who was playing second fiddle till now.
Both then took on CSK bowlers in a bid to finish the game early. Jaiswal finished with 38*, hitting 3 fours and one six, while Parag made 14* with one four and one six. RR reached the target with 8 wickets in hand and 47 balls to spare.

During Rajasthan Royals’ chase, Riyan Parag seemed to have fun with the CSK bowlers. In an amazing incident, Parag hit a six off CSK bowler Noor Ahmad and then flexed his muscles in the face of Sanju Samson, who was keeping wickets.
The incident happened on the last ball of the 11th over, bowled by Noor Ahmad. Parag played a switch hit and sent the ball into the crowd. The shot was hit with immense power, and the ball sailed comfortably over the boundary rope.
In celebration, Riyan Parag faced the RR dressing room and did his bicep flex celebration, which was also done in front of Sanju Samson’s face, who was keeping wickets.
