In news that came as very unfortunate for IPL fans, the much-anticipated RR vs CSK could be washed out on Monday due to relentless rain at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
At the time of writing this, the pitch at Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium is under the cover, as rain is taking all the limelight due to unwanted reasons. A viral picture on social media confirmed the development.
Barsapara Cricket Stadium Guwahati Weather Today
Earlier, it was predicted that rain could play as a spoilsport during the RR vs CSK IPL 2026 match. And in all likelihood, it could turn into reality, as the current Guwahati weather does not look promising.

As per Accuweather, the Guwahati has a partly cloudy sky at present, with a temperature of 22 degrees centigrade. The cloud Coverage is 20% at this point, rising to 72% during the scheduled match time in the evening.
Even though there are 25% chances of rain during the evening, keeping in mind that the rain is happening in Guwahati right now, the match will surely be delayed, if not gets abandoned due to inclement weather.
Barsapara Cricket Stadium IPL Records
Guwahatiâs Barsapara Cricket Stadium had its first IPL game back in 2023. Since then, it became Rajasthan Royalsâ second home after Jaipur.
The first IPL match in Guwahati was between Rajasthan and Punjab Kings. There, Punjab won by five runs. After that, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders twice, and Chennai Super Kings visited until IPL 2025.
Notably, two RR home matches each season have been held in Guwahati since IPL 2023.
Has Guwahati Had An IPL Washout Match Before?
Yes, there was one time when an IPL match at Guwahatiâs Barsapara Cricket Stadium was washed out due to rain.
It was RRâs IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders, which was Match 70 of the the then season.
Not a single ball was bowled during the RR vs KKR IPL match due to persistent rain in Guwahati.
IPL 2026: Story So Far
IPL 2026 only had two matches. The season opener began with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on IPL 2024 runner-ups Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
There, Virat Kohli made all the headlines with a flamboyant knock. Riding on his unbeaten 38-ball 69, coupled with Jacob Duffyâs 3/22, RCB defeated SRH by five wickets to get themselves off to a perfect start.
After the Virat Kohli show, it was Rohit Sharma who hogged the limelight in front of his favourite fans at Wankhede Stadium. KKR were at the receiving end, as Rohitâs 38-ball 78, which had six sixes and six fours, helped them chase down a 221-run target against the Purple and Gold Brigade.
