Virat Kohli’s coolness and calmness were recalled by former India cricketer Aakash Chopra, who praised Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for his knock against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their recent IPL 2026 game in Guwahati on March 30, 2026.
Rajasthan Royals started their IPL 2026 on a winning note as they crushed Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets. It was a complete domination by RR, who are playing under their new captain, Riyan Parag. Parag had opted to bowl first after winning the toss in Guwahati, seeing that the pitch would offer something to the bowlers.

Matt Short scored two runs, Ayush Mhatre fell for a golden duck, and openers Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored six runs each. Sarfaraz Khan (17) and debutant Kartik Sharma (18) were the ones who stopped the wickets from falling.
Then Jamie Overton made 43 in 36 balls to push CSK’s final total to 127 runs. Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed two wickets for RR.

In response, RR’s chase was headed by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed CSK bowlers to all parts of the Guwahati Stadium. He reached his fifty in just 15 balls, eventually falling for 52 runs in 17 balls, hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained not out on 38 to ensure RR won the game by 8 wickets and 7.5 overs to spare.
Aakash Chopra lauds Yashasvi Jaiswal’s game awareness and compares him with Virat Kohli
Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, praised Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, comparing his game awareness to India great Virat Kohli, following his undefeated knock against Chennai Super Kings. Jaiswal started tentatively, scoring three fours and one six in his knock.
Despite appearing scratchy, the left-hander did not give up his wicket and calmly played second fiddle to the daring 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Chopra praised Jaiswal's maturity in not attempting showy strokes to break him out of his early rut, instead focusing on getting the team across the finish line.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal showed a lot of maturity. He allowed the hitting to be done from the other end. We saw glimpses of Virat Kohli in him; that one needs to look at the larger picture, keep the ego aside, and not compete with the batter at the other end,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Jaiswal finished with 38* in 36 balls, while Dhruv Jurel made 18 in 9 balls and Riyan Parag made 14*.
“The team needs to win, and if it’s possible to go as a red-inker, do that. "Red-inker" means a star against your name, which means unbeaten. Whoever has a star against his name more times, especially in a run chase, becomes a superstar. Yashasvi Jaiswal drove the game carefully. That was excellent,” remarked Chopra.
Rajasthan Royals will now be seen in action on April 4 against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
