Ravindra Jadeja had quite a homecoming to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) team as he played a huge role in their win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2026 game on March 30 in Guwahati.
RR captain Riyan Parag, in his first game as full-time skipper, won the toss and chose to bowl first. The pitch seemed to assist the bowlers and had something in it for both the fast bowlers and the spinner, and the RR captain wanted to take advantage of the same.
It was evident from the first delivery that CSK batters will have a difficult time in the middle. But the RR bowlers made sure that their stay was as short as possible.

Ayush Mhatre earned a golden duck, while openers Sanju Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad both fell for six runs. The loss of wickets was briefly halted by Sarfaraz Khan's 17 runs and Kartik Sharma's 18. Jamie Overton's 43-run knock was the reason CSK scored 127 runs.
One of the biggest reasons why CSK couldn’t get to a more defendable total was that their big-hitter Shivam Dube failed to come good this time. He was brilliantly set up by Jadeja, who was hit for a six by Shivam Dube as well.

After being hammered for a six, Jadeja responded two balls later when Dube was caught by Ravi Bishnoi. As the CSK batter walked back, Jadeja startled everyone with a wild "gun-shot" celebration. However, it was his farewell to Dube that really made headlines.

In the post-match conversation, Ravindra Jadeja revealed that his familiarity with the batter's game was crucial in his jubilation, which he explained was a result of his well-executed plan against Dube.
"I have known him for a long time. I bowled to him regularly in the nets. I know how he thinks and what he looks to do. I was prepared for that and tried to bowl outside off because I knew he would look to play big shots against me," Jadeja told the host broadcaster.
“I felt the wicket was a bit sticky, and the ball was turning, so I really enjoyed bowling. My job was just to hit the right areas and let the pitch do the rest. You can't take anything for granted in cricket; no matter the target, you have to work hard, play your shots, and give your 100 per cent," Jadeja said.
Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets in his spell of 3 overs, giving away 18 runs, in his first game for his OG franchise, Rajasthan Royals.
RR made short work of the chase thanks to an explosive start by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who hammered 52 runs in 17 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes to his name. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 38* and stayed till the end to ensure RR won the game by 8 wickets with 7.5 overs to spare.
