Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India will go up against Pakistan in Match 6 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. This will be the first match for the Women in Blue in this year’s edition, who have not won the T20 World Cup yet.
Divided into two groups, this will be a 12-team competition for the T20 World Cup 2026. India and Pakistan are placed in Group A, along with Australia, South Africa , Bangladesh and the Netherlands.
The T20 World Cup 2026 began on Friday, with hosts England taking on Sri Lanka. It was a Danni Wyatt-Hodge special that stole the show, as England stamped their authority with an 87-run victory over Sri Lanka.
Riding on Wyatt-Hodge’s century, England piled up 219/1 batting first. Coming to defend, they bundled out Sri Lanka for 132, with debutant Freya Kemp making headlines with impressive figures of 4/21.
With only two teams from each group progressing to the knockout stage, the IND-W vs PAK-W match in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 surely adds a lot of pressure to both sides in terms of semi-final qualification. Not to forget, Australia and South Africa are in the same group as well, making it tough for others.

Birmingham’s Edgbaston is a surface that helps fast bowlers who take the new ball. Swing bowlers can get more advantage here, although historically, Edgbaston is one of the better spin-friendly venues in England.
Let’s not forget that women’s cricket has heavily relied on spinners over the years. Yet, out of 221 wickets at this venue in WT20Is, 115 were claimed by fast bowlers alone.

Hence, for India, Renuka Singh, Arundhati Reddy, Kranti Gaud and Nandani Sharma hold the key here. Of course, India will not play all of them at once. Thus, it will be interesting to see who can be the first-choice seamers for them.
