The CSK franchise has been hit with a major injury concern to its Australian fast bowler ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 season. England Women’s skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt has left her team’s training camp in South Africa to be with her family. In other news, Paul Stirling has stepped down as Ireland’s T20I captain.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Thursday, March 19.

Nathan Ellis ruled out of IPL 2026 for CSK

Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis has been ruled out of the upcoming IPL 2026 season. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the same, stating that the 31-year-old will be sidelined from the tournament owing to a hamstring injury. After having retained Ellis late last year, the CSK franchise is now reportedly looking for the cricketer’s replacement.

The Australian paceman recently toured Sri Lanka as part of the national squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. In four matches, the speedster managed to bag just five wickets, including four in a single game against Ireland in Colombo.

Nat Sciver-Brunt leaves England Women’s training camp

England Women’s captain Nat Sciver-Brunt recently returned back home midway into the team’s training camp in South Africa citing personal reasons. The ECB confirmed that the star all-rounder will not be taking part in the remainder of the tour. It is worth noting that the training camp itself was designed to prepare England players for the upcoming 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at home.

In the first intra-squad match of the tour Nat Sciver-Brunt played earlier this week in Centurion, she bludgeoned 41* runs off just 24 balls in a match-winning cause for Team Brittin XI.

Paul Stirling steps down as Ireland’s T20I captain

Senior top-order batter Paul Stirling has stepped down as Ireland captain in T20I cricket. The 35-year-old confirmed the decision mere weeks after Ireland suffered a crushing first-round exit from the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Under his leadership, Ireland did manage to secure comprehensive series wins over UAE and Italy back in January this year.

A veteran of 343 internationals, Stirling will continue to play T20I cricket as a batter, and will remain as his team’s ODI captain. Cricket Ireland is currently looking for its next men’s skipper for the shortest format of the game.

Delhi Capitals rope in John Mooney as fielding coach for IPL 2026

The Delhi Capitals franchise has roped in former Ireland all-rounder John Mooney as their fielding coach for the upcoming IPL 2026. Mooney previously represented the Ireland cricket team during his playing days between the years 2006 and 2015, and was an integral member of the side that registered a couple of stunning upsets at the 2011 ICC Men’s World Cup in India.

In the Delhi Capitals coaching setup, he will be joining head coach Hemang Badani, bowling coach Munaf Patel and assistant coach Ian Bell. Team mentor and former England captain Kevin Pietersen confirmed his unavailability for the season earlier this month.

Peshawar Zalmi sign up Tanzid Hasan Tamim for PSL 2026

The Peshawar Zalmi franchise has signed up Bangladesh batting star Tanzid Hasan Tamim for the upcoming PSL 2026 season. Tanzid will now be joining fellow Bangladesh cricketers like Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam in the Zalmi set up.

The 25-year-old recently drove Bangladesh to a remarkable ODI series win over Pakistan in Mirpur by punching out a majestic run-a-ball 107. He scored 175 runs in three matches overall at an average of 87.50 to bag the ‘Player of the Series’ award.
