Punjab Kings, the runners-up of the IPL 2025 edition, had a sad ending after coming very close to clinching their maiden title win against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. While they seemed to be the deserving candidates to win the finale, RCB had the better of them.
Nevertheless, after the IPL 2026 auction, PBKS is all set to attack with their full might as besides having multiple retentions, PBKS also boasts an array of uncapped players who are all set to match the fire of the team with their aggression.
Hence, let’s take a look at the set of uncapped players in Punjab Kings who can outperform many players in IPL 2026.
Uncapped players to watch out for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2026
1. Priyansh Arya
Priyansh Arya from the Punjab Kings has been a phenomenal weapon for the team since his debut. The new find of Punjab became an instant hit with his opening batting prowess, where he averaged 27.94 at a strike rate of 179.24 from the 17 matches he played for his team.
While having one century and two half-centuries to his name, Priyansh Arya is a 24-year-old uncapped batter from Delhi who is known for his explosive temperament alongside his opening partner Prabhsimran Singh.
| Criterion | Average | Strike Rate |
| Priyansh in powerplays | 29.5 | 176.1 |
| Priyansh in middle overs | 32.2 | 198.8 |
| Priyansh while chasing | 21.9 | 153.0 |
| Priyansh against spinners | 22.2 | 176.2 |

As evident by the data in powerplays, Priyansh has a strike rate of 176.1 while averaging 29.5. Meanwhile, he is also consistent with the bat during the latter end of the game too.
Arya maintains an average of 32.2 and a strike rate of 198.8 during the middle overs, consistently attacking both pacers and spinners, giving them no room to breathe.
Hence, undoubtedly, Punjab Kings retained this young talent for INR 3.80 crore and will again entrust him with the opening duties to help Punjab gain the momentum that they need.

2. Nehal Wadhera
Nehal Wadhera has been a solid middle-order batter for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. After having a successful debut season with Mumbai Indians in 2023, Wadhera, an uncapped Indian batter who plays mainly for Punjab as his domestic team, was retained by the Kings for Rs 4.20 crore.
Justifying his retention, Wadhera has a tally of 719 runs in the IPL, while averaging 26.62 at an impressive strike rate of 142.94. For Punjab, he has bagged 369 runs while maintaining an average of 30.75.
Interestingly, Nehal Wadhera's stats in the IPL have been super impressive, especially given his middle-order reliability and his explosive batting alongside the consistency he brings.
| Criterion | Average | Strike Rate |
| Nehal in middle overs | 35.6 | 145.8 |
| Nehal against pacers | 21.0 | 137.0 |
| Nehal against spinners | 50.9 | 149.0 |
| Nehal while chasing | 26.2 | 142.3 |

Being effective in the anchoring role, Wadhera averages 35.6 during the middle overs while having a strike rate of 145.8. Against spinners too, Nehal Wadhera is a phenomenal batter boasting a strike rate of 149.0.
An excellent striker of the ball, Wadhera's reliability will be one that Punjab Kings will rely upon, especially in his role where he plays at No. 5 and No. 6 to best act as a cushion for any early scares.
3. Yash Thakur
Yash Thakur, a domestic player for Vidarbha and an uncapped Indian pacer, will be eager to make his mark after missing out on a major chunk of the IPL 2025 campaign with PBKS.
Thakur played only two matches, scalping one wicket in the previous edition, but was effective with Lucknow Super Giants during his debut years, where he took a total of 24 wickets for LSG while also being economically decent with the ball.
Thakur's recent exploits in the Ranji Trophy, where he managed to take multiple four-wicket and three-wicket hauls, add to his temperament of bowling fiery deliveries.
| Criterion | Wickets | Economy Rate | Strike Rate |
| Yash in powerplays | 7 | 10.17 | 15.4 |
| Yash in death overs | 13 | 10.85 | 12.1 |
| Yash against left-hand batters | 5 | 10.88 | 37.4 |
| Yash against right-hand batters | 20 | 10.10 | 12.8 |

The 27-year-old will be one of the secondary pace options for Punjab Kings alongside Arshdeep Singh, Ben Dwarshuis, and Lockie Ferguson. Retained for 1.6 crore, Thakur will be effective on Punjab soil, where he can primarily excel as a death bowler.
He can hit the deck well with a good seam position, where his pinpoint yorkers, deceptive slow deliveries, and tight defence in the final overs will give him a point to prove and a chance to explode in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
