Cameron Green muscled an electrifying century against the New South Wales to storm back into form just ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 season. Batting at number four for Western Australia, the hard-hitting all-rounder clattered six boundaries and five huge sixes to chart 130* off 232 balls.
Green’s counterattacking knock helped Western Australia amass 302-7 in 104 overs by stumps on Day 2 of their four-day Sheffield Shield 2025-26 match against the New South Wales.
Good news for KKR as multi-million-dollar player surges back into form
Cameron Green flayed New South Wales bowlers by pounding 130* runs off 232 balls with six boundaries and five huge sixes. The burly all-rounder, batting at number four, arrived to the crease at a precarious 33-2 in pursuit of New South Wales’ first innings total of 232.
The star all-rounder subsequently forged a 109-run partnership with half-centurion Cameron Bancroft, and another 65 runs with Joel Curtis for the fifth wicket.

Charting his 15th century in first-class cricket, Cameron Green saw off the remainder of Day 2 by crafting 46 unbeaten runs with tailender Corey Rocchiccioli as Western Australia reached a commanding 302-7 by stumps, thus taking a 70-run lead over the hosts.
Apart from signaling Western Australia’s dominance in the match, Green’s innings also marked a great news for the KKR fans as well as for the franchise overall. It is worth noting that the 26-year-old recently underwent a below-par 2026 T20 World Cup for the Australian cricket team, where they failed to go past the opening round of the competition.
KKR entrusts Cameron Green with record price
Back during the IPL 2026 auction last December, Cameron Green bagged a record deal with the KKR franchise. The three-time title winning team shelled out a staggering Rs. 25.20 crores (US$3.0 million) for the cricketer, thus making him the most expensive overseas player of the IPL 2026 season and the third-most expensive in IPL history overall.
Since he last played IPL cricket back in 2024 for the RCB, Green will now be joining the likes of captain Ajinkya Rahane, West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine, explosive New Zealand opener Finn Allen, India’s T20 radical Rinku Singh as well as several others in a star-studded KKR set-up.
Cameron Green’s T20 form still a concern
While Cameron Green gained some momentum with his blistering century against the New South Wales in Sheffield Shield 2025-26 season, his T20 form still remains an area of concern for the KKR in the lead-up to IPL 2026.
He recently spent the entire 2026 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka by scoring just 24 runs in three innings at a dismal average of 8. Even in Australia’s preceding T20I series against hosts Pakistan, the hard-hitting middle-order batter failed to go big on each occasion as Australia slumped to a 0-3 defeat.
As of now, it remains to be seen if Green can regain his lost touch with the bat in time for the KKR franchise in the upcoming IPL 2026.
