The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member Bangladesh squad for the upcoming home T20I series against Sri Lanka Women. After losing the ODI series against the same opponent earlier this month, the board made a notable change to the team by calling up an uncapped star.

Senior wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana will continue to lead the team after leading Bangladesh in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and in the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal earlier this year.

Bangladesh Women call up uncapped Sarmin Sultana for T20Is

The BCB has included top-order batter Sarmin Sultana in the Bangladesh Women’s squad for the upcoming three-match home T20I series against Sri Lanka. It is worth noting that Sarmin, with an experience of 16 ODIs, is yet to play a single T20I match in her career.

Sarmin also only recently made her return to Bangladesh’s ODI setup after a gap of seven years, but she managed to score only 42 runs in three innings in the series at an average of 14.

She will be replacing senior pro Fargana Hoque after the latter scored just 11 in the series-deciding third ODI match in Rajshahi on April 25.

Nigar Sultana will continue to lead the Bangladesh Women’s team, with fellow senior pro Nahida Akter serving as her deputy. Nahida will also be expected to play the 100th T20I of her career, if she makes it to the playing XI of her national side in the series-opener on April 27. Sri Lanka Women tour of Bangladesh 2026: Story so far

Sri Lanka Women’s team, under the leadership of legendary all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu, is currently on a six-match white-ball tour of Bangladesh. The visitors started off the tour with a close defeat to Bangladesh in the series-opening first ODI at the Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on April 20 earlier this week.

However, the Sri Lanka Women’s team bounced back with comprehensive wins in the second and third ODIs to clinch the series 2-1. The series also constituted a part of the ongoing ICC ODI Women's Championship.

The T20I series between the two sides will be played between Monday, April 27 and Saturday, May 2 up until next week. Each of the three matches will be hosted by the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.

All three games have a start time of 1:00 PM IST, since the board pulled up the matches to save electricity amid the prevailing energy crisis in the country.
