GT cricket team in IPL 2026 [Source: AFP]
The Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans have been in mixed form so far in the IPL. After back-to-back wins against Delhi Capitals, LSG, and Kolkata Knight Riders, GT has suffered two straight losses against MI and RCB.
Currently in the lower half of the points table in sixth position, Gujarat Titans will aim for a comeback in the CSK vs GT clash. As the Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans match is set to take place on April 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, GT will be coming in with a pumped-up arsenal on their side to fight the Yellow Army in their fortress.
With a solid chance to make a desperate turnaround on the points table in an afternoon clash at Chepauk, Gujarat Titans might have to make some key changes to their Playing XI.
Ahead of the Titans' next game, let us look at what the GT Playing XI vs CSK can look like.
GT Playing XI vs CSK, IPL 2026, Match 37
Top Order: B Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler
The top order of the Gujarat Titans looks settled with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan opening at the top. Although Gill wasn't as impactful with the bat in the previous match against RCB, Sudharsan scored a terrific 58-ball century to boost GT's hopes.
Jos Buttler, being the destructive T20 batter he is, will be a solid option at number three to accelerate any early scare into a good and productive knock inside or after the powerplay. Moreover, the top order looks well-set with the three pillars who are unlikely to change, except in case of any injury ahead of the CSK vs GT clash in IPL 2026.
Sudharsan has been in top form in the tournament with an average of 33.57, while Gill has been performing at an average of 49.50. Meanwhile, Jos Buttler's strike rate is also above 150, as he currently averages 33.00 from his seven outings.

Middle Order & All-Rounders: Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Shahrukh Khan, Rashid Khan
The middle order consists of respectable all-rounders for Gujarat Titans such as Washington Sundar, Shahrukh Khan, and Jason Holder. Sundar can be a tactical weapon in case middle-order hitting is required. With a tall figure, Sundar can dig sixes out of the spin track that Chepauk will offer on Sunday afternoon.
Jason Holder, too, with his Caribbean might, and as evident from the previous game against RCB, can strike at full force while being a potent weapon with the ball. Shahrukh Khan is also a solid power hitter in the lower middle order, which can amplify Gujarat Titans' scores by a massive margin in crunch situations.
Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan mystery spinner, who has been in solid form with the ball, will be leading the spin department. However, he also carries the ability to pinch-hit spinners in the death overs. Overall, the middle-order pillar looks solid and requires little to almost no change for the GT vs CSK IPL 2026 clash.
Bowlers: Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Sai Kishore, Prasidh Krishna
In the bowling department, especially for the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium pitch in the CSK vs GT clash, the afternoon game demands a turning track with slow and low deliveries. While pacers will get help, spinners will be very beneficial on the pitch as well.
Hence, it is high time that the Gujarat Titans call up their second-highest wicket-taker of IPL 2025, Sai Kishore, into the mix. Sai Kishore should replace Manav Suthar in the playing XI to strengthen the spin attack alongside Rashid Khan and Washington Sundar.
Meanwhile, the pace department will be handled by Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada, with Jason Holder adding to the pace arsenal. Overall, the bowling department of the Gujarat Titans looks solid to give a tough challenge to the Chennai Super Kings at their home ground.
Batters like Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dubey, and Dewald Brevis could be given a tough fight if the spin arsenal of GT performs as they are reputed to. The pace department will also have a tough battle against Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who will open for CSK in the Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans match.
