An unfortunate incident occurred in Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings match as Lungi Ngidi suffered a nasty injury. Notably, the South Africa international hit his head on the ground, leaving him in immense pain.

It was a nasty injury as Lungi Ngidi had to be stretched off the field and is most likely to be ruled out of the IPL following this blow. Notably, it was so horrific that an ambulance was called on the field to carry the player out of the ground.

On the 3rd ball of the 3rd over, Priyansh Arya mistimed a shot high in the air. Lungi Ngidi was the nearest man to the ball, but misjudged it and fell back while attempting the catch.

Notably, Ngidi hit his head very badly on the ground and couldn't even get up. The physios of both teams quickly rushed to the field. The doctors checked him and quickly called for a stretcher.

In a first, an ambulance was called on the ground to carry the player to the nearest hospital. Everyone in the ground were tensed. Ngidi was put on a neckband, following which he was transferred on the ambulance.

Vipraj Nigam Replaces Lungi Ngidi As Concussion Sub

Lungi Ngidi was in no position to continue as Vipraj Nigam replaced him as an impact sub. Notably, it is the second time that a concussion sub has been used in this season.

Previously, Mumbai Indians too brought Shardul Thakur as replacement for injured Mitchell Santner, who too had suffered a concussion. Shedding light back on Lungi Ngidi, the right-arm seamer is unlikely to further take part in this edition.

Luckily for Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Starc has returned to the team after a long delay. Now, it is likely that the Australia seamer replaced Ngidi for rest of the tournament from Delhi's next match, which is against RCB on April 27.
